As a Liverpool fan I was glad to see Leeds stay up, Burnley have been great in the Premier League but an away at Leeds is much more of a glamour tie. The reason that the music was played was because even though we had lost the game - it was the end of our first season in premier league and we had survived! Despite losing the game we almost celebrated just as much as Leeds did that day, due to us surviving - an amazing achievement for a bus stop in Hounslow! In fact Brentford fans stayed behind after the game LONGER than Leeds fans to celebrate the end of a fantastic season (we celebrated for over half an hour after the match!) In the end both sets of fans left incredibly happy - its just a shame we couldn't send Leeds down that year (although at least Tottenham did the next year!)

I went on my early evening walk and had to happen to go past about 5 pubs… they were singing from the rooftops! Refering to Brentford, I'm still sad about the fact that Griffin Park, one of the loveliest stadiums in Britain, is history and replaced by this weird thing which looks a bit like a mixture between a spaceship and a flat iron. Love the analogy for the stadium! You are right! However it does look more distinctive than most modern sheds such as KC Stadium for Hull City which is a complete concrete abomination with no soul, well ok maybe a really dark, cold one.

@@christhorpejunction8982 Thank you very much, are you from Hull and supporting the tigers? I agree about the KC Stadium (or MKM stadium, or however they call it right now). From what I know, there was no chance to redevelop Boothferry Park bit by bit back then because it fell into complete disrepair. But it could have been even worse, just look at Brighton & Hove being 'home' in the outskirts in a stadium which I absolutely dislike. I'm missing these lovely, old-fashioned stands, often covered by gable roofs, which made British stadiums and football so unique. Unfortunately, more and more of them are disappearing and replaced by sterile and cold steel, glass and concrete. I miss this heartiness of the traditional stands and stadiums. Abandoning and tearing down such a venue as Goodison Park for a completely new stadium on the docks with this awful looking outside seems like replacing your own grandmother for a cyborg to me.
