Steve Oliveira and Fernando Cunha brought "Section 8" the CLM Motorsports x Tri State Motorsports AWD Turbo K Series honda civic driven by Steve out for some testing in preparation for Import vs Domestic: World Cup Finals where they will be competing in the Wild Street class against primarily Coyote Modified Mustangs and Run What You Brung 7 second bounty Evo's.
After running a 7.93 @ 189mph first pass, Cunha made some adjustments to the tune and then ran the blistering record pass of 7.67 @ 193mph bettering the previous best of 7.88 set earlier this month on the cars first time dipping into the 7 second zone.
The AWD setup consists of all Honda OEM parts, has drive shaft shop front axles and a ppg dog box.

There's was faster on hondas then this OEM too. Lol, The fastest NA Honda runs 8's and the fastest turboed Honda runs 5's in the 1/4 mile. Evos and Sti's are still impressive though haha

Ahh no def not 5's bro. Only production engines to go 5's are the 2j and ford modular. The all motor hondas that run 8's are the pro stock fwd cars that use a full tube chassis, and 10-15 years ago some one of the old fwd classes they got down into the flat 7's, but they had the engines mounted in front of the front wheels, longitudinal and were using a trans axle like you'd see on a mid mounted rwd car. This or speed factory's car are way more impressive.

Christian De Vos it’s not faster yet. But they’re also different class cars with vastly different set ups. CLM has a weight, turbo, and fuel type restriction. SpeedFactories Outlaw Class has basically no restrictions.

He made it to the semi-finals of the wild street class at Import vs Domestic at Maryland International Raceway, with full on tech inspection, you can go to there webpage and see the class rules and requirements. but its 7685 turbo, c85, sleeved k20, aftermarket pistons and rods and cams, 4piston head, stock honda awd components, ppg dog box, dss front axles.

I wonder if lowering the front by an extra inch or two and adding a just a tad bit of extra stiffness to the shocks in the rear... would maybe help with all that initial wheel spin for a better 60ft.

It's rear based drive less stiffness in the rear helps it squat and grip.

But with how much power it has it looks like it's straight maxing out the rear suspension while lifting the front at take off. Minor changes can have big results. Even just lowering the front without adding stiffness "Could" help. Suspension matters just as much as horsepower at this stage. The power is there.. just time for fine tuning suspension

not even a close or fair race, the race that everyone was trying to setup was with our friends at speedfactory but they had trouble with the car friday during qualifying, so had to focus on the main event vs a fun run. maybe in 2018 it will happen.

Nick Sawyer then again DSM’s have been running close to these times but haven’t been able to launch as hard as this civic. Evo’s & dsm’s, if you pay attention usually slip the clutch, if they can launch as hard/smooth as this civic I think they’ll be able to get quicker times. But for sure it’s a good time to see whose going to be a 4cyl awd turbo king

A pro shop finally took a dive into the awd civic world and already setting super high standards! I love dsm’s I’ve always been obsessed with the 2g eclipse the body design is amazing and the 6 bolt motor will do great things. but these Honda’s can run against damn near anything. I would love an awd integra or a s2000 swapped integra like ziggy built performance. Only difference I would do is I would run a gt3076r instead of the gt35r ziggy used.

It’s the K-Tuned Race Spec Shift box. It’s got the 5th gear lockout and pro shift cuts installed as well.

lmao usually best not to spread info you're not sure about. The lever in front is a 5th gear lockout, the lever at the back is the shift cut for no-lift shifting.

lol what? That would take his right hand away from the steering wheel during the launch of a 7 second car... that is idiotic. That would not be faster than dumping the clutch when he half steps the pedal anyway. If you want I can give you the full list of drivetrain parts and steps to build an AWD K swap. Would make a lot more sense to do it in a lighter, sturdy chassis such as an EG or EK.
