Someone did it and type the title "forging damascus viking sword" from part 1 to 4. I think the blacksmith was a dane, i can't spell his channel's name in youtube. Watch it and you will be amazed because even other metal workers are also commenting on videos and really fascinated his professionalism, it was really a FINE craftmanship. This ragnar's axe is also good but you will watch in awe to that guy forging the damascus viking sword based on book. with him during the forging.

Grain size, grain size, grain size. For the same hardness a fine grain piece of steel is much tougher, less likely to break, than is coarse grained steel. When you heat steel hot enough to forge, it is also hot enough to grow coarse grains. Before hardening & tempering your forging, take just one more step. Reheat that rough forging to, say 1500 or 1600F. Then just air cool it. Now when you heat your forged axe or knife up to harden it, you will have a finer grain size. Makes a big difference. I talked the product manager into so heat treating his forged tool at Black & Decker, ages ago. When he tested it, mine lasted and lasted. The regularly heat-treated tool broke. Which caused that Manager to bleed a bit. Guess which heat treatment became standard? Do refine the grain size of your forging. Yeah, I am a metallurgist with decades of experience.

As much as I'd like to see that a fan of the Inheritance Cycle myself, there are several reasons why they probably won't make Brisingr. There are almost no canonical reference pictures to work from and the series isn't nearly as popular nor as topical as anything else you've seen on this channel. It's like asking them to make a Valkyrur Lance from Valkyria Chronicles. Do you recognize that weapon? Even if you do, very very few other people do. And let's be honest, without the fire, Brisingr is really just a regular blue sword.

One could for replication purposes use laboratory-created gemstones and false gold. They obviously aren't going to be forging meteorites, nor does brightsteel exist in the real world, but they could use a type of steel known for taking a particular shine, and use bluing to get the appropriate color.
