The most realistic van I've come across. You show the 'smallness' of it, which other people don't seem to show. I wondered if I was odd... now I know I'm not!

Nice build. I have a 2012 Transit Connect myself. Like you said, it is perfect for road trips. Longest I've lived out of it was 30 days. Most trips are usually only a week or two though. BTW, if you need even more storage you can put a shelf above the driver/passenger area. Right above where your curtains there are plugs you can pop out and there should be bolt holes there that you can anchor the shelf to. The front end you can use metal L brackets that hang over the lip of the existing shelf. For mine I framed it out with 2x2s with a very thin sheet of plywood for the bottom. I just needed a place for clothes and other light stuff.

Done the same with my Hi-Top,, the amount of _Dead space_ that you gain is quite literally unbelievable, I couldn’t go without my shelf now + a light colour auto carpet & it’s just like factory (UK anyway as we got the most basic of models, The US I think Ford where aiming for the “‘small truck”’ market Excellent vids🙌🏼🚛💨💨✌🏼

I have a 2012 Transit Connect I’ve set up to travel and boon dock out of. I general use a two man Kodiak tent, when I’m camping for more room, as I’m an amateur astronomer and carry two telescopes in my travels. Your design is a good one for your purposes. I agree about not installing a ‘Max Air’ ( or any other kind for that matter). There’s plenty of ventilation without it, and my experience has been holes in the roof inevitably leak, and are always discovered during some cloudburst event.

That Connect is neat for your weekender\extended road trips AND it has the power to pull a utility vehicle if you need one for hauling more camping gear. Evidently, you are planning on more “pit stops” for restroom and other needed “leg-stretchers”.I noticed that you also have a cooler for drinks and munchies-cool idea😸

Idk if it has the power😬 my 2013 transit connect won’t hit 70 with the few things I haul inside living in it if it’s free falling lol *knocks on wood.. but if you don’t mind driving on the slower side, it’s the perfect micro van

I'd add an air vent or two... those lowered windows using the rain guards make breaking those windows 10 times easier to bust open- less than one second. You'd instantly be trapped by a robber. Safer is better.

Very true, although I'm not too worried about that in places that I stay, our dog sleeps in the front seat and I have other means to protect myself. But yes in the future I'm going to look into putting in a max air vent

@carmenmartinez28822 жыл бұрын
He said is just for weekend camping, you don’t need to shower every day, there are also portable camping showers you hang from a tree, I’m only guessing but in many places you’ll have a picnic table where you can set up for cooking or the pit. Is for camping not living in it.
