Gorgeous card - and just love the tip about the foam tape. Thank you to the person who originally passed it on :-) One thing I learned in a cardmaking class a few years ago about heat embossing with acetate was to sprinkle the acetate generously with talcum powder then tap off the excess. You should still see a fine layer of talc on the acetate. Then stamp your image straight over the top & pour on the embossing powder as you would normally do. When you tap off the excess powder, you will have very, very few grains of embossing powder left. I find this works better than an anti-static pad on acetate because over time, the pad picks up the oils from your fingers from using it which transfers to the acetate which then grabs the embossing powder. We were also told in the class to try not to handle the acetate where you would be pouring on the embossing powder as the powder sticks to where the oils from your fingers are. Hope this helps :-)

Neat idea. One comment and one suggestion. The comment is that I love that you used a dark background. All the other shaker cards I have seen have white or light backgrounds - probably to try to make the sprinkles show up better - but ironically they showed up much better against the dark background you used. My future shaker cards are going to have darker backgrounds. Suggestion: before you pull off the adhesive, maybe you could figure out which side will be the inside and go ahead and powder that side. That way you wouldn't get it on the acetate and you wouldn't have to be as careful so you didn't get it on the top adhesive part since it would still be covered by the backing. Just a thought. Thanks for your great videos.

Hi there I thought I would give you a tip even though I'm not an expert but I've been told in the past a very useful thing to use to remove any fluff dust from the acetate is a dryer sheet or dust bag. Hope this helps. Anita

K you can use the embossing buddy from Stampin' Up or a microfiber cloth to keep embossing powder from sticking in places you don't want it too.

Here's another top from a wonderful youtuber "Olga" . Die cut two pieces of felt from same size as the back of your square and glue it on. That covers your cardstock and leaves circle area open and your sequins dont stick to the felt like the tape. And your whole back is layered evenly and complete. Also felt comes in many colors to match your cardstock.

love those tips. in the written instructions, you mention to use water and wipe off the acetate but you did not mention it in your video. Here is the written text: When creating the window for the shaker, add water to the acetate (and then dry it off) to eliminate some of the static cling that causes embossing powder to stick everywhere. oh well. it would be great to mention maybe in another video. thank you from ottawa ontario in canada -

A tip I use a lot is when you know you want to double the thickness of your tape do that before you cut it in half long ways. Then your tape is perfectly cut the same. No laying over on the edges for sequins to get stuck on.

I'm in the middle of making a shaker card for our great-granddaughter for Valentine's Day. I used this method of putting the foam tape around a smaller heart shape and it worked very well. One thing--I now have the card base made and I have the little bear layer with the heart cut-out in it. It has dawned on me that I can't turn the bear/heart piece over onto the card base because then everything will spill out all over the place! Duhhh!!!I don't know how to get the two pieces together, now, but I'm going to put a mirror down, then try and use the reflection to center the card base onto the bear/heart piece, to hopefully get things lined up. I'm so disappointed in my lack of ability to think things through better, but still, I don't know how I might have put the two pieces together right. I'm sooo backward with things like this.If I can get things to work, it will be a really cute piece. If not, it will be a mess and so will I. :(

Another tip for round shaker windows is to cut the foam tape to within a quarter inch of cutting all the way through, so it kind of fans out as you apply the uncut edge toward the inside of the circle, then it will go around the window even with the release paper on. Keeps it nice and sticky that way, too!
