AWESOME LOCK - Alfred DB1 Lock Z-Wave + Bluetooth + Wi-Fi (must see)

Spoiler! I LOVE THIS LOCK - Check out the Alfred DB1 deadbolt lock in Hubitat, SmartThings and Vera. This is a full review and installation of their updated Z-Wave Plus smart lock, which is an important part of every smart home automation setup.

All my tests were performed with firmware 1.05 NOTE - there are known problems with the 1.04 and earlier releases, especially on SmartThings. If you've seen other reviews that were negative, they were probably on firmware 1.04

Setup the latch and deadbolt so that when the door is latched it compresses the door seal and aligns the deadbolt with the deadbolt striker plate in such a way that the deadbolt can slide freely in and out of the jam. If that is not already obvious.

Thanks for the review and for letting us know this lock works with Ezlo/Vera Controllers. I'm concerned that the Alfred website is a bit dated compared to your review. The website still doesn't list Ezlo/Vera as compatible. It also doesn't show a Z-Wave model but, instead, shows a Z-Wave add-on module. In addition, the prices on the Alfred website are higher. I also haven't seen a photo or video of a keyed Alfred lock in use (where does the key go?).

This is everything I wanted in a lock. App control and Zwave. It’s August combined with Kevo combined with a Hubitat lock manager compatible Zwave lock. Great review.

Could you please work w/ KZbin so that your content is not flagged "content for kids" so we can all receive notifications for great videos like this. I don't know too many kids under 13 that care about smart locks, security systems, water sensors, motion sensors or the like. Thanks.

If you are watching via the KZbin Fire TV app and you subscribe via that app it always flags the content as "made for kids" regardless of the channel and won't let you click the notification button when you go to youtube.com. But if you click the subscribe directly via youtube.com it does not flag as "made for kids". So if you subscribe via the app you have to go to youtube.com, unsuscribe, then subscribe, and then you can click the notifications bell.

Whoa, I just bought two of these but haven't installed them yet. 98.5% lock reliability? So 1.5% of the time your house remains unlocked when you think it's locked and it's telling you it's locked? That is completely unacceptable if that's the case.

I ran these on my house for 2 years and never had a problem. I've mentioned in a few videos where I run these tests that part of the issue could be the Lock Test-O-Matic. The test is pretty intensive on both the hub and the lock. But, I do understand that it sounds concerning.

Is it 100% battery operated? What batteries does it need?

All of the smart locks require batteries. Most take 4 AAA batteries. They last anywhere from 6 - 12 months, depending on how often the motor runs the lock and how well adjusted the door is when locking.

@@DIYSmartHomeGuy1 This is what I found on Alfred's website. The DB series works between -22℉ and 140℉ (-30℃ - 60℃). To protect the circuitry within the DB series locks, we do not recommend installing the DB series anywhere with high humidity.

Good review! The only concern I have is that I cannot find any warranty information on the company's web site. I did find through Lowes a supposed 2-year limited warranty but it does not tell me what the limitations are. I think I might have to pass on this one considering the company is not very transparent.

I had the exact same concerns when I couldn't find it... however, after some digging I found it on their "Documentation" page (it's nowhere on the specific product pages)... It could have been timing, as it states "August 2020" on link and within PDF. Hi I know what about to say it doesn’t have nothing to do with the smart lock but I have a question does the z wave thermostat can be use in hubitat if it doesn’t which z wave thermostat would be perfect to use it with hubitat?????
