I like your set seat up. I'm wondering, when you have accident during driving, people sit rear seat . insulance will cover the pepoles?
@gearforexperiences3 жыл бұрын
Good question! It depends on the country. Here in the US, only front seats need to be crash tested from factory to be legal if your van is registered as an RV. When it comes to safety, they are safe and meet safety standards. 👍

nice build! curious if you can share where you sourced the inner trim rings for the tern window (looks like black plastic between window and wall panel)? That is the part I havent quite figured out yet! Thanks
@gearforexperiences3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I got those metal spacers directly from Artic Tern. I ordered different sizes cause I wasn’t sure which would work best (1.5” was the size that was ideal for my wall thickness). I also used cut and painted wood around to create the frame (hidden underneath the wall).

Hi. Where do you get the L Track quick release from? Or is that already a part of the seat frame? Thanks!
@gearforexperiences Жыл бұрын
The L-tracks seat quick release I have are from Unwin and I bought the pair from Titan DIY (www.titandiykits.com/products/seat-lockers-for-l-tracks). I don’t see the Unwin brand anymore but they have one called Braunability. 👍

@@mattgough6344 Absolutely! 👍 You may want to look at the new rear seat swivel base that came out this year from Limitless Vans. That’s what I would get if I was building a van today. www.limitlessvan.com/product-page/swivel-seat-base

What components did you use to secure the L-track to the body of the van?
@whereisray2 жыл бұрын
@Gear For Experiences Also Interested in this. What did you use to quickly lock/release the seat from the L-Track?
How did you know how to space the L track to face forward? I don't have my seats yet but I am ready to install my floor!
@gearforexperiences2 жыл бұрын
I waited until I had the seats and the mounts. I assembled the set completely, then I temporarily installed the flooring, placed the seats where I wanted facing forward and marked the location. Did the same thing again with seat facing sideways, before removing the flooring to cut the L-track grove where I marked the seat locations. For the facing forward location, if you place it really close to the wall, you won’t need to remove the fuel tank, but for the sideways position, if you want to fully bolt the L-track so that it can be driven sideways, you will need to remove the fuel tank for access. I hope this is helpful! :)

Great video, are you still in SLC? Also DIY Titan looks legit - your blog post was super helpful. I think I’ll probably end up doing the foldaway bench in my 03 sprinter. Looks like it had a 100% bolt on mounting plate - was your floor easy to install? Thanks!
@gearforexperiences Жыл бұрын
Thanks Caleb! Yes, still in SLC. I made my own floor so it probably was a little more work than one pre-made such as the ones from Travois or the Smartfloor from RRE. Foldaway bench are great if you often need a front open floor plan. Something to keep in mind is that it is nice to have a seat to quickly sit and put your shoes on before leaving the van. Glad the blog was helpful and thanks for watching!

how does the window hold up when driving while open?
@gearforexperiences2 жыл бұрын
I love Artic Tern Overland Windows but they are not intended to be open while driving. At low speed around town on paved road, they would be fine, but I wouldn’t go more than 35mph. 👍
