We have been living in our Revel Mercedes Sprinter full time as a travel couple and there are things we love about our camper and things we wish we could change.

Being a big fan of the Revel I just had to stop and say how much I like what you guys have done with your set up. I love how you have the GLSS Garage Lounge System. I honestly think everyone who owns a Revel should buy this additional upgrade because it allows you to fully make use of all this wasted space as a complete living area. Honestly, I find it quite cheap that the Revel doesn’t come with the GLSS.

You need to have a 2000 subscriber party! Great video as usual. I have an hour and a half commute to work one way, so I am in the car for 3 hours 5 days a week. Needless to say I watch a lot of KZbin and listen to a lot of audible books. I can honestly say y'alls ( I live in the south and say y'all) videos are top of the line and have kept me entertained and informed on a subject I didn't know much about before. It's actually making me want to take my family out to one of these parks that you have gone to as well. It's obvious you put a lot of work into your videos and don't just throw a bunch out there just to have multiple ones. Because I don't have any experience with the van life I can't comment on the actual things in the video and give tips but I can tell you it's great fun to watch these even if you know nothing about van life. They really are interesting. Keep up the great work!

Actually most important suspension upgrade is probably the rear lift springs (followed by the shocks). But maybe the most important "upgrade" is the spare tire. The one that comes with it is a street tire. It will get you out of a fix if the 4x4 trail isnt too bad... You guys should have come to the Revel Rally in Durango! There was great info there (and great people to meet too :) ). Great Vid- thanks.

We have the same Carefree awning I and completely agree, it's SCARY! I rarely use it as well as I feel like it's going to get stuck open. We did the Agile RIP upgrade and it made a world of difference with truck wash and crosswind assist, but that's on the 3500 177" duelly Sprinter. Definitely the best upgrade we did next to doing the speakers/stereo.

The awning is provided by Winnebago, not Mercedes. There are other solutions but Winnebago should provide something better for the money they charge.

The side steps are made the length of the door as they should be, its because Winnebago put a cabinet in front of the door that you don't need a step there. And it doesn't stick out any farther than your side mirror. Don't knock off the mirror and you won't hit the side step. Same for the ladder on the other side

Another great video guys! Appreciate the honesty, candor, and good tips! I purchased the CAVans door armrests after my first long haul drive. They're kind of funky but make a huge difference--I had the same opinion as yours with respect to the one armrest setup. I also purchased their door stops--those doors are lethal when they slam ya. I feel ya on the cord deal with that glovebox ordeal...I also don't get why the QI pad heats up my phone to some crazy temps. Speaking of phones, I still have not found a great solution with respect to where to mount my phone holder--the cubby doesn't cut it for me. I have my phone holder sitting in the slot above my head still because it wont stay wherever I mount it. I have a '20 and the space in back is larger and have maximized as best possible. I have Driver's side only GLSS and that thing is great storage. I like crates, I have a crate that has stickers all over it and throw a cushion on it when I need a 3rd spot at the GLSS, use it to hold/store items during travel, a means to transport groceries/stuff to and from, use it as a step stool out the back side, a side table when sitting outside, etc. The possibilities are endless. These things [Revels] are quirky but so much fun. Oh and I have the Agile RIP, already installed when I bought it and think that it is fantastic! No wobble, lean or sway, solid handling for being a behemoth. Welcome to drive it if when you all come to CA for the CA Revel rally ;)

I had those tires in a 35” size on my old Jeep. It was my daily in northern Canada for 18 months, and they were the best all around tires I’ve ever had. Great in winter, silent on the highway, and great off road, just not an extreme mud tire. I sold the Jeep when I had 35k miles on the tires, and they were all perfect despite having never been rotated. Would highly recommend them.

Of course, we hope it helps! Awesome to hear you guys got the revel! Yeah it is called 80/20 extruded aluminum. Their site (80/20.com) has all the parts and info. It will be overwhelming digging through the parts and their tutorials, but I was ignorant to 80/20 before this and was able to make it. The table base is from “Lagun” and the table top I made myself. We just took measurements from the revel and told the company how to cut it and it came back perfect. In total I think everything came to $700. So still a lot but much better if you don’t want to buy ready made.

Good vid. FYI, winterizing does not apply to camping in winter locations. It apply's to parking the vehicle over the winter somewhere that might freeze, causing damage to the water system. Happy travels!

Hi Alan, did we say winterizing for camping? Definitely something this van needs for more of an extreme winter like extra insulation, window covers and such things. Right now in Canada it is getting down to 30 at night, but no issues.

Good looking vehicle and great color. Seems like it pretty well fits your lifestyle requirements. Don’t fit wider tires, they’ll reduce performance not improve it ! Also, wear out the current suspension system before you spend money on an upgrade. All the best and safe travels.

I’ve read about too many issues with the DEF system on the Mercedes vans to make me no longer want one, not that I could really afford one anyways.

Great video! Very informative. I am considering downsizing from a 40' Newmar to a Winnebago Revel. It's going to be a huge adjustment and I want to make sure I know what I'm getting into. Is it a television and if so, does the van have in-motion satellite TV?

that little work station behind the drivers seat -- where things can fly off the table. Maybe velcro a net type thing that rolls under the tabletop, unroll, pull it over the table/workstation & hook somewhere by the window - velcro again there to secure. Maybe steal that net above the bedroom area you aren't using for anything... :) I can't see things close enough to really see, but that seems it would keep things from shaking off the table when driving...?

There are some issues you addressed but in my experience those issues can be solved by experience, like the driving issue because of the size the more you drive it the more comfortable you get. And the 4x4 thing, 4h shouldn't require any extra action besides putting it in 4h and 4l requires you to go into neutral, what you might be having issues with is the transfer case needing to be broken in, from my knowledge that doesn't need to happen

Great video I have the same van and have very similar opinions and experiences with the pros and cons. Interested in the exterior roof box Who is the manufacturer what are the dimensions? I highly recommend the suspension upgrade very happy with it. A good much cheaper upgrade is the under hood air compressor being able to run low air pressure on washboard roads is more comfortable. The little compressor does not have much volume so it does take a long time to bring back tire pressure.

Great video. I wish they had better passenger seats for kids and to bring back the ability to make that seat into a bed. I know there is an option from a 3rd party to do so, but it takes up more space to bring that add on. Yep, and that swing freaks me out. I'm now in the process of building my own with a builder.

Great tour. What are your thoughts on the Warranty from Winnebago and Mercedes? Oh and what was fan fix...the video cutoff there lol.

It is not bad. Issue with warranties right now are the bookings/appointments are hard to get in a short period of time. Booked months out and if you need new parts it may take time to get those as well. We are approaching the end of our 1 year or 15k miles Winnebago warranty. Technical issue with the vid😅 we are going to reach out to the manufacturer. There is a warranty issue with it.

I own one of these & we had an RV company replace the awning with a batwing awning. It works sooo much better. Second thing we did was add LED pod lights to the driver's side, passenger side & the rear for camping & scene lights. Another things we did 1. Added a front wrap around bumper with a winch, 2 LED fog lights & 12inch LED light strip. Helps protect the the front headlights 2. Snorkel for better air intake 3. 32inch LED off-road light bar on the roof for better lighting in the back country 4. Weeboast Cell signal booster 5. CB & Ham Radio. Not important for most but eh. 6. Upgraded both the tail lights & the headlights with LED ones. 7. Exterior Solar panel input so we can plug in our own solar panels for a better charge 8. Upgraded shocks & tires 9. Full under carriage skid rock plates 10. Added a new swing out tire carrier that holds our max tracks, kangaroo wet bag, Jerry can, water Jerry can & 5 Gallon propane tank 11. Backup camera 12. Backup Alarm 13. Dash camera with rear cam

Don't disconnect the center speaker. You need to boost the main speakers with an amplifier. Add a sub and the system sounds great.

@@FarisandLisa Just sound quality. The current setup is that the center speaker is over powered but the rest of the speakers are very weakly powered. The center channel does add quite a bit. You just need to balance it out with a amplifier boosting the rest of the speakers. Once you do that it sounds great. Under the passenger seat you can add an amplifier and a subwoofer. If you just unplug the center speaker the system still sounds terrible, just maybe a little less terrible. My system is truly a pleasure to listen to after upgrading it.

For me the Van is limiting. I would suggest for you as a couple to look at the Overlanding scene of camping/travel/exploration. Overlanding setups provide more experiences and places for you to go. The Vans have limited ability to actually explore certain places because they cannot overcome some 4WD drive/travel issues. Think about it. I chose Overlanding due to the flexibility of how I want to camp. Whether it be by tent/hammock/rooftop tent. So, I have the flexibility t choose how I want to experience Earth Mother.

Yes totally agree overlanding is a great option. When thinking about our travels we wanted mountains, cities, hot, and cold so the best option for those four things was the van! I think overlanding would be great for a weekender or extended trips but tough for full time.

Hi, it is the standard velcro brand 1 in wide tape. It has held up really well for 6 months so far and especially because the location is in a shadowy spot.

I wouldn’t recommend the ones we used because even though they said galvanized stainless steel they are rusting. If you look up t-bolt on Amazon you will find a lot of options.

I prefer the fl/p of the Revel to others like Storyteller but for a van with all electric the batteries just seem too small. You always have to be thinking about how much power you have especially if you are somewhere that a/c is needed if you are not plugged in. I don't understand why WB can't fit volta in like Storyteller...same van. Enjoyed your video as always!

The floor plan is definitely why we went with the revel as well, but it has its cons. They fit everything in, but it can feel very tight in there. I know people with the storyteller that like the more open feel without the permanent shower.

Also not really a big fan of the table in our Winnebago Solis. It kinda works for our daughter while we are driving, but it's not great for much else. I've looked at adding a Lagun table system but I think it's just going to be in the way of getting in and out of the van most of the time.
