There are definitely some good areas. I'm hoping to hit up some of the eastern side areas over by the Ouachitas

I was stationed at Fort Sill 89-92. Before age of internet, this was a beautiful surprise when we arrived. Loved Oklahoma and is still near to my heart. Greetings from south Louisiana.

It's a neat place. It was *super* hot when I was there a few summers ago so maybe pick a milder day(s) to go than I did!

Thanks for watching! I definitely would like to get back. There was a lot of trails/areas left unexplored. As I mentioned in my video, it was just too blazing hot the weekend I found myself there.

@@parkspursuit7515 you definitely should make it back. Spring and Autumn are the best seasons in which to go. In the summer, I usually have to make it there a little after sunrise to beat the heat. You're also allowed to go off trail there if you wish, which I almost always do.

Very nice video. I was reminiscing about this area and looked up a video and found this one. I was stationed at Fort Sill 89-92 and wife and I spent many Saturday or Sunday riding and enjoying this magnificent area. The dam though...surprised me. I dont recall ever seeing it. Where was that by ? Peace be with you

Thanks for the nice words. I'd love to get back soon, there's a lot to explore there. It was pretty boiling hot during my trip, so is like to try a milder month to go. The dam is near the Quanah Parker lake. I'm not super sure. There's a sign, lol!

Wheres a good place to camp at? Camp Davis? And any recommendations for longer hikes 5+ miles with a view?

I can't answer as to where to camp. I don't camp nearly as much as I used to. A combination of laziness and health complications have my staying in hotels way more than I used to.😕 The trail most probably featured here is chains Charon's garden which I find very unique for the rock formations and scrambling section. But if only like 2.5 miles if I recall... I haven't done the Mount Scott overlook (yet) but I believe it's just over 5 miles and given its name I'm sure it offers a view

I found many parts of the Wichita Mountains area quite scenic. I'll give you that it's surrounded on all sides by very bleh flat brown prairie.
