Yeah I was kinda saying something similar I guess. Like about how these texts, while 'savage' and entertaining for us, when you actually think about it being a real situation that took place, you have to wonder if it was the right or mature thing to do. Especially ones like "I never loved you" or ones to do with killing them, they seem so over the top. These people are being celebrated, but they might be the ones making the more mistakes than what brought the relationship to an end. While I'm not saying to say nothing, especially when you've been badly hurt, you just need to be wise, and hold your tongue and not say anything stupid. And sure, that's easier said than done, but that's the strong thing to do, and you can actually be proud of yourself for being the bigger person. As you said, about viewing them as being a part of your life, I feel the same way. As cliché as it is, and how much people hate hearing it, there's good you can get out of everything. And you should appreciate the good memories you did have, and move on to create new ones. You only hurt yourself by holding on

No offense but you should take your own advice about holding your tongue because there are toxic and traumatic relationships that look normal from the outside, I would never blame anyone for getting mad at someone. Not even if they want to kill them, all humans will feel that to someone, be it for just a moment or for longer, the issue is if they actually are thinking of doing it, that changes everything.

It's weird but I never get why people would do that. When an ex texts me, I answer back very politely..........you answer super super super super nice but avoid anything to do with explaining anything about your life. I would go round and round and round about the weather, the news, their girlfriend or wife, their education, back to politics. My ex was and is hella trash. Got together with the girl I said I was uncomfortable with during our relationship, cheated on me 2 times, emotionally manipulated me, took me for granted, and disrespected my current boyfriend when my bf was so understanding that I was okay with being friends with my ex. He deserves the shittiest life after trying to invade my current relationship and happiness.

I really never got the whole "upset at your ex" thing, because I've only ever had a single fight throughout all my relationships. Besides that person, I've never had any hard feelings about it, and I've even talked to a few of them afterward. I don't even get what there is to fight about most of the time. If there's a problem, you fix it. If you can't fix the problem, you break up, because the relationship would've turned out that way eventually regardless. I'm also honest and open person toward people I trust, so there are rarely issues. The one time I was in a fight, it was over pretty much immediately, as she insulted my hobbies, my friends and my financial situation out of nowhere. She told me to stop playing games (even though I played for at most 2 hours a day), she told me not to hang out with my friends, and she complained that I didn't have a job, which was not exactly my own decision, and it didn't affect our relationship either. As I know some of her friends, I've heard that she was abusive toward a boyfriend she had later on, so it does seem like I dodged a bullet there.

@@lasttofirst3335 I can, because it happened to me. I just told her that I found out about it, and that she should find someone who she doesn't cheat on. These days, she is happily married and has a child. She has apologized and told me that she would never repeat the same mistake again, and she also told me that I should find someone better than her. I obviously wasn't very calm at the time, but I was calm enough. The thing is, you should never try to deal with problems when you're at your most emotional state. Calm down, then deal with the problem. The only time I've been unable to do this has been when violence was involved. Being hit or seeing someone else be hit, that's the time when you'd see me lose rationality.

Back in the 90s I was dating a girl for 2 years when I joined the Navy and promised her we would get married and I would take her away from her unhappy home. While in boot camp she started seeing someone else. I got even by moving on. About a decade later we talked again. She had been abused by close male relatives as a child and wanted to get away from this person at all cost. She ended up marrying this guy because she thought he could more quickly take her away from the home. Turns out he was also an abuser. I forgave her for what she did all those years ago. She cried. I’m so glad I was able to give her that peace. Less than a year later she died of cancer before her 35th birthday.
