This happens to me at work with coworkers DAILY!!! I'll engage in small talk... or have a full on convo.... Then once we finish.. we end both going to the elevator.. not knowing that we both, had the same objective pre conversation.. then one of us will do what jimmy did and awkwardly head to the fire escape stairs instead of awkwardly going back into a quiet, confined space after we already shared a conversation in a small space already. Then lets say its the 3rd floor we both we both we're headed... once i dart up the stairs to beat the elevator in case their destination was also the 3rd floor.... BOOMMM. that elevator door opens as soon as i open the door from the fire escape!... And you LOCK EYES AWKWARDLY.... then you both, kinda just gottta laugh at the awkwardness and actually address it at that point... which ive also done dozens of times. Stuff like this is so funny.
