To use some American examples, in Britain bollocks or bollocking is slightly less severe than balls or shit and slightly more severe than nuts or crap. And cunt is still the most intense swear word but is used more regularly in Britain than in America. But the same goes for all swear words because for some reason Americans puss out on swearing. In Britain you might be willing to say fuck to your boss on occasion (in conversation about sports or a difficult problem at work) but would be making a mistake saying cunt. And only a scumbag would call their parents cunts, or say it in front of children.
