Oh Ron. Thank you so much for these clips. I just last week discovered your Word on Westerns series. I'm 67 years old and grew up on Westerns. Don Collier has always been one of my favorites. I've been watching at least 5 episodes per day since I've discovered your clips. I've never been to CA so I guess this is the best I can do to get to the Gene Autry Museum. LQ Jones is way up there too on my favorites list. Thanks Again.

Last place I visited in the USA, before leaving in 2004 was the Old Tucson Studios. I visited the High Chaparral grounds, and got avphotograph in the barn where the last shoot out of Rio Bravo was filmed. But it broke mu heart that Rio Bravo/El Dorado Sheriff office, the Burdette Saloon, and the Carlos' Hotel were burnt in the 1996 fire. Save a lot of Kodachrome I was planning to pose as a very hefty cowboy 😫. And lovely Linda Cristal is a clear example of the Argentine women beauty. Pilar Wayne probably had a very jealous watch on the Duke when filming The Alamo ...

I think Don Collier's story about the hotel room is the funniest one you've posted yet. As an aside, last year my wife was interviewed by former "High Chaparral" stunt man Bunker de France. THE HIGH CHAPARRAL's first two seasons were fantastic, but as executive producer David Dortort said the location expenses had gotten too high and LA's Vasquez Rocks and Palmdale became the Arizona we saw the most often. The great casting along with locations of Old Tucson, the White Stallion Ranch and the nearby Arizona state and national parks made the NBC show a real gem. However, when 'Blue' Mark Slade left, the casting chemistry was gone for good. Don Collier is a wonderful guy, very down to earth -and what energy to travel and meet all his loyal fans. He was a natural, he really looked and acted the part in all the westerns he did. It was good that Don could work on the show and be allowed to take-off when a movie came along that paid a whole lot more. I always appreciated the times we did see him!
@jimross76484 жыл бұрын
Stuff you learn. That's the best part of your show, the behind the scenes interactions and day to day operations that led to what the viewers see on the screen. Without these chats these stories would be lost. I don't think of these as interviews, because you don't do the standard Q and A. You give a factoid of information and then let your guest riff, which bring out the memories leading to stories which show the how and why of making a TV show or movie.
@AWordonWesterns4 жыл бұрын
