He wrote many things about the culture, he was never quite accepted. He wrote all those ghost stories that were made into a film. I love the music of Noh drama and the shrine music. It's related to the culture of China of the 900s by feeling, oh the Tang. It's not derivative but in line with it. I'd love to see Sotoba Kamachi,"Kamachi At The Stupa " a ghost or demon play maybe. I have had an curious fascination with Japan and Japanese culture since I was little. It is profound and hard to convey. It's just that as I grew up I felt that so much of what made me, ME, was mirrored and paralleled by what I saw heard and felt in Japanese culture. Like my heart and soul long to be reconnected to this long lost aspect of my self. So much so that when my sister passed away a decade ago I decided that since life is so temporary, and you never know when it is your last day, I needed to live, and to live FULLY, and NOW. The only thing I could think to do, was to make SURE I visit Japan. However life never works out the way you expect, and I never ended up going. I still long to visit someday. I’m lucky to have lived in such an amazing and beautiful country as Japan for the first 3 years of my military service. If I had a few words to describe them… Extremely humble and caring people. Obviously not all military is welcomed- especially in Okinawa and some other smaller places, (because of the many awful fucking cases that the military is involved with, much of it being Marines related) but I’m glad that- being in the navy, I got to hear this music as I passed a tea shop, and I decided on a whim to step inside. The overall feel of this shop was homely, yet somber, like a home you hadn’t been to or seen in years, but as you sat and drank your tea/coffee/ whatever, and ate your sashimi- you felt a sense of comfort.

I think many countries in Asia would disagree lmfao
@juno66023 ай бұрын
@@andieallison6792 Very true. The scars of the war run deep across Asia, particularly in China and South Korea. In the former case, it's being channeled by the CCCP as part of the national myth. It's more or less become their Great Patriotic War, but combined with a layer of ethnic animosity that was much less pronounced in the Soviet narrative (both countries were subject to similar crimes and atrocities, but the CCCP is much more ethnically nationalist in its orientation than was the USSR). As for the Koreans, it goes deeper. Any people subject to a half century of imperialism and cultural genocide aren't going to forgive easily. And, like the Japanese themselves, Koreans are an intensely proud and nationalistic people whose culture results in a particular proneness to experiencing searing national trauma. I get why they hate the Japanese, and obviously acknowledge just how inexcusable Japan's wartime conduct was. But, as an American, my worldview can only give these concerns so much weight. What I see presently is an Asia that's the CCCP's playground. By militarily neutering Japan, the Anglo-American leadership basically created a reality in which no regional force would be able to check Chinese expansionism. Currently, India is holding its own in South Asia, but the rest of the region is more or less free for China to do as it pleases, with no adversary on its side of the Pacific capable of countering its ambitions. The only feasible means of countering CCCP imperialism I see involves a re-armed and rising Japan. Yes, the Japanese themselves seem hesitant to take on this responsibility, but I feel that they'll eventually realize it to be a necessary precondition for their own defense. Certainly, the US is becoming too burdened to carry the overwhelming majority of that weight alone; let's be honest, we're a superpower, but one that is vastly over-extended. As for the Koreans, though they'll loathe to admit it, history will force them to the realization that, in virtually every substantive factor, their interests are identical to the Japanese (and Taiwanese, but that's another conversation.) At the end of the day, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" is an iron law of international relations. It brought Churchill and Stalin together, it's currently bringing the Israelis and a variety of Sunni monarchies together (even despite the war), and , mark my words, it will absolutely bring the Japanese and the South Koreans together, in spite of it all.
