So pleased I started my IT career in the late 1980s. Have built up my knowledge with a mixture of studying and practical experience. Having an 81 hour video presented as a way to pass certification suggests to me the certification is ludicrous. When I'm interviewing people for roles I will continue to focus on problem solving skills and ignore things like this

This video addresses people who may struggle to pass the certified developer exam because few free resources are available. It is a legitimate way that some people may use to pass it, maybe not you. Since you hire people, you know that some "skills" and certificates are superficial when it comes to these jobs, but they still require them. I promise you many people looking for jobs right now would love an interviewer like you who will focus on problem-solving instead of trying to cram for a test, but that is not the case. You cant even get interviewed these days unless you have some hyper-specific skill or some dumbass keywords that literally anyone can make up. This is the reality of our times, @handlebard. The 1980s were a far easier time to get jobs. And it's bizarre, honestly, that you would boldly say you built up your knowledge through studying and practical experience but don't see that what you gain by actually following along to this course is "practical experience," along with the fact that it mentioned many times to also get some studying done(even giving links on where/what to study). Truly Bizzare. Sometimes, you of the older generation are so far removed from reality and do not say anything. I know it may be too late, but at least try to be less judgemental and be better.

This is an odd comment, I would assume that literally no one on earth will use this video as the only source of knowledge for a cert. But as a reference material for someone already studying. This is more like an advanced college course, but the cert is actually worth money at the end. Unlike most degree's.

So here's the thing, you don't need 81 hours to pass the exam, you could pass it with 10 hours. But most folks don't have that foundational knowledge, so I have shoved in all that problem solving into this course which gives the real total time to acquire the skills. So when you interview someone who goes through my course they should be able to actually do the work, not just speak to it.
