How is Instances live in a private subnet get internet from the ELB even if the instances in the private subnet do no have ip address. Isn't the instances in the private subnet are registered to the ELB and the ELB uses its private ip?
@getevivek5 жыл бұрын
Any reason why NAT Gateway have to be placed in the Public subnet? Can it also be placed in the Private subnet?
@knowledgeindia5 жыл бұрын
no. Because NAT Gateway should be able to to talk to Internet directly using its Public IP. please check out our playlists for more -- kzbin.infoplaylists

Hi, I have doubt, you have mentioned in video, In private subnet created the ec2 instances in A.Z 1, will same ec2 instances in A.Z 1 will automatically reflected in A.Z 2 in private subnet for High availablity ?
@ravi206707 жыл бұрын
Here traffic generated from internet goes through ELB where it distributes to the web server placed in private network. once it gets the requested input from webserver will it go through ELB again ??? As explained here local ips in private subet need to have NAT placed in public subnet when they want to access internet or any outbound traffic.
@knowledgeindia7 жыл бұрын
for the first thing, yes the reply goes back via ELB. NAT would come into picture when traffic is initiated by private instances e.g. Access a third party AP.

I am clear about auto-scaling and ELB. However ELB is a seperate service in AWS where as Auto-Scaling is an option within EC2 service. How are both of them different i.e. Auto-Sclaing within EC2 and ELB as seperate service? I understood that Auto-Scaling is achieved by creating Auto-Scaling Groups and Launch Configuration. But that is not enough unless we create load and associat Auto-Scaling Groups+ Launch Configuration to ELB. However I always get confuse when I am trying to answer MCQ's for exams that focus on Auto-Scaling as feature etc.
@knowledgeindia5 жыл бұрын
Its simple. ELB is there to distribute traffic/load to n number of instances. Auto scaling group is there to keep the desired number of instances in running state; and also increase or decrease the number of instances, based on the need. Check our Auto scaling video and ELB playlist..
@farwanqv5 жыл бұрын
@@knowledgeindia Thanks so ELB is an AWS service and Auto-Scaling is a feature.

Just a feedback - at 5:00 you say "even when they don't have private IP" I think it should be public IP?

Thank you Sir But have a doubt related to this.. You said Nat Gateway can’t span AZ’s , but from the diagram show in this video, Request from instances in other AZ’s also directing to NAT. Will this serve the purpose in Real time or need Another NAT in other AZ ??
@knowledgeindia5 жыл бұрын
Serving traffic from another az is one thing, but it exists in only one az and hence if that az goes down there would be a problem ..

Great Video. You mentioned having 1 NAT per AZ for HA. But how will my private EC2 traffic route to the second NAT incase one goes down. Is there any config we need to do?
@knowledgeindia6 жыл бұрын
You will have to put 2 Route tables for 2 different private subnets and in that point to 2 different NAT gateways. Please support us by SHARING our videos. Thank you.

If the ELB is placed in the private subnet, how then the internet traffic is routed to the ELB?
@knowledgeindia7 жыл бұрын
Hi Swati, If you place ELB in private subnet it won't be reachable from internet. We normally keep ELB in private for the internal purposes e.g. ELB between Web and App tier (in 3 tier architecture). If you want to keep ELB in front of Web tier, it should be there in Public subnet only -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqm3gaWDatWlpbM Please let me know if it is not clear still. NAT is very expensive. Make sure that you really need it before using. You need to use VPC Endpoint service if you need to have access to AWS services (S3 for example)
