In this quick 10 minutes tutorial, we will deploy our first aws lambda function with python for free.
To visualise the outcome we will host a static website.
You only need an aws free tier account and some python and html code.
With aws lambda you do not need to manage any servers, do updates and other admin stuff, because they are serverless.
Serverless means that AWS is taking care of managing everything from server updates to security.
The first 1 million requests are for free.
After the tutorial you are comfortable to deploy lambda functions with ease!
AWS is a hyperscaler cloud and offers scaleable cloud infrastructure.
It is super flexible and you have thousand of possibilities to implement stuff there. They offer a generous 12 month free tier, so you can try lots of services for free, like ec2, dynamoDB, lambda, s3, sns, sqs, cloudfront, api gateway.

I like serverless but I’m not a big fan of AWS, it’s way too complicated to estimate Prices and Usage Limits. And even if you can get around other options are most of the time way cheaper. AWS is in my opinion just something for those who need everything out of one hand to have a better and simpler integration with other services. I wish AWS pricing and Limits would be more clear and easier to understand, then I would probably use it.

I can understand your point, it sometimes is a bit tricky to look through that pricing, but it is just super convenient :) Do you use gcp or azure instead?

@@techwithmarco Im quite new to Functions but I tried Cloudflare Workers, and that works great. And those are edge functions, also G Core labs functions work fine. And I may also have a look at Scaleway, the last two are EU Companies so even when the Data Privacy Framework gets cancelled Im still GDPR Compliant.

Oh I always forget about cloudflare workers, you're right 😄 And thanks for the other two tips! I'll check them out
