Stateful is where we can allow all the traffic to pass. But in Stateless, We need to give directions to the desired ports/services to Ingress or Egress. Best thing in your VPC related LAB's is that while doing all like VPC, NAT G/w, Peering or NACL we got best practice on VPC steps and will never slip up n make mistakes. Thanks and best wishes.

in stateful, If you allow any traffic for inbound it is automatically allowed for outbound. In stateless: you need to define both the ingress and egress rule separately.

No, let me clear it again what he said, stateful means......when we create inbound rule then outbound rule for same port created automatically and it is allowed only in security group Stateless means, inbound and outbound has to be created separately and both are not connected and this is applicable on NACL. And in NACL you have both allow and deny rules Let me know if it is clear to you, else i can help you more. Even i am learning so we learn while we teach each other :) Bhupinder bhaijaan rocks :)

Stateful means set rules on one side(incoming traffic) and outgoing can be done automatically. Stateless means set rules on both sides of the traffic(incoming and outgoing) Thanks Sir

In layman term : Stateful : If you hit request to apache homepage from outside AWS to one of your EC2 instance exist in public subnet(assuming apache is installed on it) Inbound - [Allow: Port 443] -: Request will be consider. Outbound - [allow by default] -: Request will be responded by default. Note - No explcicit denny is available inside security group! Stateless : If you hit request to apache homepage from outside AWS to one of your EC2 instance exist in public subnet(assuming apache is installed on it) Inbound - [Allow: Port 443] -: Request will be consider. Outbound - [Denny: Port 443] -: responce will be blocked at NACL level. [Apache homepage should not appear on screen on requester's machine] Setting needs to be updated as follows at NACL level : Inbound - [Allow: Port 443] -: Request will be consider. Outbound- [Allow: Port 443] -: responce will be given. [Apache homepage should get appear on screen on requester's machine] Note - Explicit denny is available inside NACL.

Stateful wo hota hai jo inbound (jo public ip to server aaye) and outbound (jo server se user par jaaye) dono allow krdeta hai but stateless sirf ek allow krta hai jo hota outbound only agar inbound bhi dena toh explicitly krna pdega

Great..thanks sir One more request, could please share some real time example as in some scenario...for eg. There is a requirement to develop an application and host it in AWS..however deployment team needs to be provided access to the Prod server in AWS using VPC etc. The deployment team has a private subnet of B class..also. DB needs to be setup for the application.. So how do we define a solution..where should we host a DB and where should the application be..also since it's a web based application, so we want the production url to be accessed by only Finance team which has a separate private subnet. Appreciate your effort

Secutiy group is called stateful bcoz if give inbound rule then no need of outbound rule it will take automatically but stateless we need define both

Stateful: Allow outbound as same as set in Inbound. Nothing to mention or set especially for outbound. Outbound can follow same route/port Stateless: You have to explicitly mention rules for both. Specifying only inbound rule will not allow outbound to perform the same way.
