Module 9 - Guided Lab: Building a Resilient Environment
Lab Overview and Objectives:
Ensuring the availability of critical business systems is crucial, especially when it comes to deploying applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS recommends running services across multiple Availability Zones to achieve high availability.
While some AWS services are inherently highly available, such as load balancers, others can be configured to achieve high availability, like deploying Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances in multiple Availability Zones.
In this lab, you will begin with an application running on a single EC2 instance and then proceed to make the application highly available.
By the end of this lab, you should be able to:
1. Examine a provided virtual private cloud (VPC).
2. Create an Application Load Balancer.
3. Set up an Auto Scaling group.
4. Test the application's high availability.
Lab Steps:
1. Review the existing virtual private cloud (VPC) configuration.
2. Create an Application Load Balancer to distribute traffic across multiple EC2 instances.
3. Configure an Auto Scaling group to automatically adjust the number of EC2 instances based on demand.
4. Validate the high availability of the application by performing tests and observing the behavior.
Completing this lab will give you hands-on experience in building a resilient environment on AWS, enabling you to deploy highly available applications that can withstand failures and ensure uninterrupted business operations.
