Came across your videos are they are simply superb, short and sweet. Easy to get to know about AWS services. I think ansible like tools are very good to run remote commands making immutable executions which are agentless and easy to manage. Do you think SSM can be used for a very special purpose where others go void? Exploring alternatives.

Hi Bob, thanks for your appreciation. Requesting you to please share the videos with your friends. I think Ansible has its own place and SSM its own. SSM is very much integrated with AWS IAM and that's a great benefit. It also has State Manager, i will talk about it in another video. But, for complete configuration management, of course Chef, Puppet, Ansible etc. do great. AWS OpsWorks actually now supports managed Chef & Puppet, which makes it easy for customers. SSM is free to use and solves many day to day activities for us. I will talk more about it in upcoming videos. @KnowledgeIndia Is it possible to schedule these run commands. For example- Running a shell script on EC2 instance every friday at 14.00. Do not want to deal with crontab on EC2, but a scheduler in Systems Manager would be great!!

User data gets executed only once per instance, at time of launch. Run command can be used any number of times..
