I'm not Ethiopian. I'm (a woman) from Cameroon, in Central Africa. I dont understand Amharic. But i do understand and get fully the powerful energy in these words, in this clip. I do get the fierce pride, the deep love, the pain and the infinite hope for Motherland. And I get it when she's crying at a point and i can see those tears (even if they were probably written in the script) are sincere, they just happened to run at some point. I do get the Beauty of her strength. I do get and understand how powerful is this work of art. Long live Itiopia! No matter what, long live Ethiopia! Amazing Rahel Getu that I discovered today and she made my day in a wonderful way. Thank you, Rahel Getu!

For those who would like to know what this song is about (as a hint): …It's a song about love of the motherland, sovereignty,... and above all HONOR. She prays not to be overcome by greed and sell her soul, …her conscious if you will (her country) to the devil. She is condemning those who are just show offs pretending to care for the motherland. She pledges to die for the motherland (Ethiopia) rather than see her downfall. She is praising the children of Ethiopia (fellow countrymen and women) for their kind hearts and giving nature and history of patriotism despite their poverty. She is calling for all Ethiopians to stand for the motherland with what they can (she is holding an Ethiopian musical instrument, AKA the Masinko, representing her role as an artist) She’s saying that life without the motherland is torture (like there’s no place like home) and that there’s no blessing like Ethiopia. Above all, ETHIOPIA is NOT negotiable! The melody is Ethiopian, the landscape represents Ethiopia (especially, the northern and south western highlands) The women represent Ethiopian mothers. The thing with which she carries her child on her back (AKA the Ankelba) is used by all mothers of Ethiopia, from east to west; from north to south (it is made of animal skin decorated with ornaments so that it serves as a lullaby for the baby on their back) The horsemen with their decorated horses represent the other children of Ethiopia (mostly the Oromo) who are known for their patriotism on their horses.... The song goes deep with all that you hear and see on this clip and it's more than what I can explain here. Hope it helps though. Feel the rhythm…

Our forefathers defeated all supper power of the world...Alexander the great, Julius, Italy, Egypt, Turks, and the Arabs tried forcefully to conquer them but they were badly defeated in Ethiopia. Ethiopia is the only noncolonized country in the world by defeating all her enemies! The Roman general known as "Africanus" dreamed of conquering Africa in 250BC. He could not do it then. Alexander the great and Julius tried bringing Afrcanus's dream come true. But the Ethiopians were consistent in repealing all attacks. Both Julius and Alexander the great were defeated by the Ethiopians. But, in 1800, the Europeans and Americans managed to conquer Africa. And they re-named the continent to honor general Africanus. The continent was renamed from Ethiopia to Africa. God bless our ancestors!!!We are coming back because God's time is here because the devil took over the world. This song honors them and motivates this generation of heros currently at war against westren supported terrorist group known as tplf from tigray region of Ethiopia. Tplf is similar to terrorist boka haram in Nigeria who is terrorizing our Nigerians brothers and Sisters

I'm American african American to be exact and I love watching Ethiopian videos. This video mad me sad to know that the world our history our people will always be divided. I love this video so much it touch my heart. May the lord touch the earth and the man that is causing destruction with in our nation. Lord please help man understand love, and unity touch the earth heavenly father and the man on it. To top it off that lack of understanding and not wanting to educate yourself causes destruction. Top it off the schools on the US stop teaching about African history so the new generation (black youth) will be ignorant, lack of knowledge about where they come from it's just sad. I love our people. May the lord spread his wings over Africa, Ethiopia just the mother land to all kind shield them lord in jesus name amen.
