I'm not Ethiopian. I'm (a woman) from Cameroon, in Central Africa. I dont understand Amharic. But i do understand and get fully the powerful energy in these words, in this clip. I do get the fierce pride, the deep love, the pain and the infinite hope for Motherland. And I get it when she's crying at a point and i can see those tears (even if they were probably written in the script) are sincere, they just happened to run at some point. I do get the Beauty of her strength. I do get and understand how powerful is this work of art. Long live Itiopia! No matter what, long live Ethiopia! Amazing Rahel Getu that I discovered today and she made my day in a wonderful way. Thank you, Rahel Getu!

For those who would like to know what this song is about (as a hint): …It's a song about love of the motherland, sovereignty,... and above all HONOR. She prays not to be overcome by greed and sell her soul, …her conscious if you will (her country) to the devil. She is condemning those who are just show offs pretending to care for the motherland. She pledges to die for the motherland (Ethiopia) rather than see her downfall. She is praising the children of Ethiopia (fellow countrymen and women) for their kind hearts and giving nature and history of patriotism despite their poverty. She is calling for all Ethiopians to stand for the motherland with what they can (she is holding an Ethiopian musical instrument, AKA the Masinko, representing her role as an artist) She’s saying that life without the motherland is torture (like there’s no place like home) and that there’s no blessing like Ethiopia. Above all, ETHIOPIA is NOT negotiable! The melody is Ethiopian, the landscape represents Ethiopia (especially, the northern and south western highlands) The women represent Ethiopian mothers. The thing with which she carries her child on her back (AKA the Ankelba) is used by all mothers of Ethiopia, from east to west; from north to south (it is made of animal skin decorated with ornaments so that it serves as a lullaby for the baby on their back) The horsemen with their decorated horses represent the other children of Ethiopia (mostly the Oromo) who are known for their patriotism on their horses.... The song goes deep with all that you hear and see on this clip and it's more than what I can explain here. Hope it helps though. Feel the rhythm…

I am Kenyan from the RiftValley. I don`t understand Amharic but I can feel the pain, love and the struggle from my Ethiopian brothers portrayed from the song. All shall b well for Ethiopia.
I am Eritrean. But here I am my eyes filled with tears. I am not really sure what exactly I had to say. ETHIOPIA Is truly Africa's pride. My father used to tell me that there would come a day that sons and daughters of Eritrea would again fall in love with Ethiopia. I think that time has come. I am deeply in love with this country called Ethiopia. Africa's true symbol. How should I express my love to Ethiopia is paining me. I can hardly breath. This song is beyong me to comprehend. I wish I could come and die to the love of Ethiopia along side with my Ethiopian brothers and sisters. One love Ethiopia, One Eritrea, One love Africa.

Rahel Getu left me in a state of perpetual suspense with this song. It is absolutely heartbreaking for me to see my Ethiopian brothers and sisters going through the horrors of war. This war and the atrocities that accompany it could have been avoided if political egos are put aside for the common good of Ethiopia. As a South Sudanese, I know first hand the horror of war, especially when the so-called enemy is your own brother/sister. I call on Abiy Mohamed and every Ethiopian person to dig deep and make peace with each other.

Thanks Mr.Bol Souther & Northern Sudan , Eritrea , Somalia , Djibouti MUST STAND TOGETHER with Ethiopia . Remember this countries at one or another time before colonial Europe Step on our land ; we trade , we laughed, we play , we exchange & defend outsiders !!!!! After the poison pill 💊 supplied by means of colony the craziness , the hate , the suspicious & sleepless nights take over .. look what happened to Ethiopia the minute TPLF home grown terrorist group go wild crazy on their own brothers & sisters SUDAN burglarized Ethiopia orders by Egypt & the so called civilized masters of Egypt !! Why because we Ethiopians provide rich soil & full of healthy minerals water 💧.. if Egypt & Sudan don’t STOP 🛑 THIER 300 years of harassment Ethiopia can purify Abbay river capture the soil & release the water then the rich delta in Sudan & Egypt will just a water with no VALUE ????? Then US & England Arab league will start shipping soil from SAHARA-DESERT . Haile Selassie FREE 28 AFRICAN countries - He crate AFRICAN UNITY , provide office to talk to each other away from their enemy ( without their fake old colonial friends ) they respect him but hate his present ! Ethiopia is the reason African isn’t in the hands of Muzungue . Trust me they do not care about Sudan Egypt Eritrea or Djibouti “ THEY JUST DON”T WANT ETHIOPIA TO BE POWERFUL & INDEPENDENT “ all Of our neighbors must know this fact & say WE LOVE ETHIOPIA - WE LOVE HER SON “ANDE LENATUE Abiy” Leave Ethiopia alone if not we will send Rachel Getu 🥂✌️🙏🏿

Theirs no way out of this war other than defeating TPLF brotehr Out fight is against Neo-colonialism. If they're not disarmed and taken out of power we will be in under subjugation of the west and the arbitrary killings that have been going on against many ethnic groups, especially the amharas will continue until it breaks the country a part and the fighting continue from there We must win This is another colonization and I hope Africa sees it.

Mr. Moore, she is saying back off !! It's an indirect message to the West - USA, UK, the UN, EU & anyone who is a white-man's lackey (such as Egypt, Sudan & our own terrorist thugs). The West is ganging up on us for the last 10 months. Right now, they are humiliating, vilifying & belittling the people of Ethiopia for the crime we do not commit. Right at this moment, we the people of Ethiopia are furious & deeply resentful. Rahel is echoing our feelings - she is telling them not to cross us. Yes, we are dirt poor but proud. We are dignified, respectful and God fearing people - we, however, utterly detest, hate and despise bigoted white supremacists. Don't touch our people & our country, ETHIOPIA!!
