In a surprising development, the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye, has reprimanded the Chief Imam of Ogbomoso, Shiek Taliat Yunus Olusina Ayilara, for failing to seek the traditional ruler’s permission before embarking on Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

In a surprising development, the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye, has reprimanded the Chief Imam of Ogbomoso, Shiek Taliat Yunus Olusina Ayilara, for failing to seek the traditional ruler’s permission before embarking on Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
Recalls that the traditional has been at loggerheads with the chief Iman for the past few months.
The Chief Imam was among the pilgrims from Nigeria who performed the 1445 Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia.
Soun, in the query, claimed that the Chief Imam did not inform him before he embarked on the journey.
The traditional ruler in the letter dated 10th June 2024, said that what the Chief Imam did was in contrast with the undertaking he signed before he became the Chief Imam.
In the query, made available to newsmen yesterday, was signed by the palace Secretary, Toyin Ajamu, on behalf of the traditional ruler.
The letter reads: “I refer to the earlier query issued to you with regards to your unbecoming and reprehensible conducts as Chief Imam Agba of Ogbomosoland and the need to desist from such conducts.”
“You will recall that on your appointment as Chief Imam Agba of Ogbomosoland you signed an undertaking and agreement which you agreed will be binding on you.”
“In the said undertaking, you unequivocally undertook to inform the Soun of Ogbomoso before traveling outside Ogbomoso.”
“Secondly, you agreed not to appoint any surrogate during your tenure without the approval of His Royal Majesty, Soun of Ogbomoso.”
“Nevertheless, we have received information that you have appointed a surrogate namely Sheik Abdulrahman Alim Areo as the acting Chief Imam Agba of Ogbomosoland, who led the Jumat Prayer of Friday, 7th June, 2024 of the Central Mosques.”
“This action is a direct breach of your undertakings. As the Soun of Ogbomosoland, I hereby demand that you immediately return to Ogbomoso and rectify these violations and desist from any further actions that violate the the undertakings you signed on the approval of your appointment as Chief Imam Agba of Ogbomosoland.”
When contacted for his reaction through a telephone call, the Chief Imam confirmed the development to newsmen.
He noted that this was not the first time that the monarch will issue him a query.
He said: “Yes. That is what I am confirming for you. He has issued some queries to me in the past. I will send you the documents.”
“This time, he issued the query to me that I didn’t inform him before going to Saudi Arabia.”

Because this king is just a gentle king all of you just continue saying whats not true about him. The king dodnt take imam to court. Its the imam that sued the king. Please dont say whats not true. Just because the king said go and settle with your family and come back and give use feedback but the imam refused and took the king to court. Its out of hand for him...how can he beg him now? The time he supposed to beg he refused and move to the court. You dont come back from the court and be friends. He's only postponing the judgement day for him by going to the Court. Sorry is late. He will still go back to the family and prove his stand in the family after the court case. Im waiting to see the end of this season film.

It was glaring that this Imam hates Oba Ghandi from get go and has promised himself to be defiant to his commands before he (King ) was installed. Oloro, abeti didi ni, Olorun a je ki senoir yin gboran. Even that bastard called Mawolaka opened her stinking and dirty mouth to be insulting our own king. The stupid woman that has no moral but putting her mouth on every issues. I am not surprised because it shows that she does not even listen to her new husband because I am sure he would have warned her not to curse our own Oba, awon omo alaileko gbogbo to nyaju si awon agbalagba asiwaju. Some people don't even care to know the Chief Imam's reason for going to Hajj without notifying the King. They don't care to know whether the king is guilty for issuing such a query letter to somebody he already banned from coming to his palace since February 14th, 2024. They do not even see anything wrong with the letter knowing fully well that the Chief Imam is the leader of all the Muslims in Ogbomoso and respect begets respect. They don't care to know about mistakes the king has made even before now. Put yourself in Imam's shoes, how do you access a person who has blocked you from reaching out to him? Can you regard someone who is dining and whining every day with people who are interested in removing you from office? Can you be a friend to a person who shields and harbors your arc-rivals? Should a king, who is supposed to be a peacemaker and father of all, take a side in an in-house fight? If you're the Chief Imam, can you be happy with a king who endorsed another Chief Imam and gave him access to be coming to his palace? Can you ever deem it fit to notify a king who sent his palace Chiefs to grace the Eid organized by your enemies when you're traveling? Won't you also distance yourself from a king who refused to congratulate you after bagging your PhD Certificate, as a result of the intense hatred he has for you? People should stop the sympathy they're giving the king, especially the non-muslims, and put the Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland in their shoes. In his shoes, I will go and sort things out with my family. I will do whatever is necessary with my family. When everything has been sorted, I will then come back to the king with at least 6 members of my family to let the king know that things are sorted.
