AX60 Tauntek Installation // Issues Solved with Modern Firmware

Just a quick shout out to Bob Grieb who runs Tauntek. I also just received my AX60 mod pack and the guy spent $70 USD sending it to me here in Sydney thanks to COVID issues between USPS and AusPost. After I realised Bob had basically lost money due to no fault of his own, I asked if he needed me to send him some more $ to cover expenses and he flat out refused. Now that’s service. I can’t recommend the guy enough. Thanks Bob!

@@JorbLovesGear Everybody now! ‘KEEP IT! KEEP IT! KEEP IT!’ Busy seriously, maybe just one more video before you sell it? Maybe you could put yr Akai sampler through it? I think I’ve seen some outboard mods that let you connect any sampler to it and not just an S612 etc.

If there is homebrew firmware for a vintage synth on an eprom I buy it and install it. Never gone wrong! The best is the upgrade for the JX-10, the upgrade for the matrix 6r and the Europa! It’s amazing the time people have put into this. Great video.

No, Bob Grieb (Tauntek) said he wasn't able to do a firmware update without these hardware modifications as well. I believe it was due to storage limitations on the original.

Done this mod on a few AX60 including the slider mod. Totally worth it. Looks like you need to keep both AX too!

Hello - do you know where to get another of those IC12 - (legs are cut now) ? I tried to follow your instructions - and yeah well, I messed up some how, the main fuse 1.6a is burning off all the time - just wanna get my synth back - trying to get pro help, but nobody wants to touch it now

Did this mod give the AX-60 the features of the AX-73? Or is the 73 still the more featured synthesizer of the group?

They're pretty similar before and after, nearly the same options, really. The big win for the 73 is the velocity, really helps make a patch feel alive.

I may have to try this. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work. I love the AX-60. I do have a problem with hooking up the akai s612 sampler. Everything hooks up correctly but the voices coming thru aren't fluent on all keys and it's hit and miss with them sounding out. If anyone has any suggestions let me know. Thanks.

My x7000 needs to be omni off, and monophonic patch mode. Not sure if the settings are the same, but I think I know what you're describing!
