I really like this episode. The back and forth between all the guys. The critique and appreciation of the actual production. The debate over the iconic status of Star Trek in general. The closer look into the history of the project and its twists and turns. I like Dan’s “thank you” to Alec Peters and all involved, like that moment a lot actually. I also like the absolute positivity and energy here that always comes on Shuttlebay 4 casts. Looking forward to more of Shuttlebay 4 and AXANAR both. Happy 1 Year Birthday SB4. And for the record - I don’t judge people for vaping. And try not to judge or regulate anyone but myself. Live Long… and Prosper. 🖖🏻

So I have to ask: Are you pro Alec Peters, or pro Axanar to be made? There's a difference, because AP is a colossial narcissistic manchild that has stolen from others (ask Gary Hutzel's widow), while Prelude and the promise of there being a sequel was something I and I think all of us was looking forward to. I didn't know at the time it was going to be 'produced' by the same guy that ran the scam Propworx to the ground. But I do agree that Axanar NEEDS to be made, but it needs to be put under the control of someone other than Peters. And if you think I'm lying, go checkout what Robert Meyer Burnett has to say about it all.

When you say ‘you’ - I don’t think there is a single voice here. There’s a collection of opinions. Some just interested in the on screen productions and films themselves, some on the back story and history of the whole thing as well - and some on this podcast who are very new to it all. Some are for the films only like you without an opinion on Alec Peters. I think this is a decent thorough look at the whole thing with some good points raised and discussed about funding, money, fan and public reaction and the legal issues. What has become clear - is that Star Trek fans who learn about AXANAR are very passionate about it in terms of the sheer strength of their feelings. One way or another.

@@PaterExcelsior A respectable answer. I'm one of those fans that in fact expected a lot more than what we got afterwords. And as someone who donated and didn't get that, I'm still frankly pissed off.

@@iamnotanuggetblackhart5103 you have to put yourself in Alec Peters shoes though. He simply couldn’t just go ahead and make the film without being sued into destitution (the lawyers would have gone for the shirt off his back). No one had the scrutiny and optics that AXANAR had due to the sheer quality of Prelude and the money raised. And after Prelude - the problems started. If he made the film anyway - it would have been vaulted, the money gone or owed in lawsuits and we’d get zero in terms of creative content or substance. There was nothing he could do but what he did - the way I see it. He had to settle. And when he even looked like he was coming through - arbitration started and the sharks moved in. You can’t blame him for not making it full length or even sooner. I’m amazed the two episodes that are promised are coming. If you had lawyers like that on your case every 5 minutes… you’d be careful too. Passion and fandom aren’t worth the roof over your head… and that’s the steaks on this one. And for what? Being really good? You must see that? I’m also aware that in Hollywood - going after someone else’s money, if you can find an angle, is par for the course. And all of a sudden AXANAR had money - bit by bit offered by fans who wanted a decent hour and a half of on screen hyper indulgence. That made it a different kind of target that I don’t think Alec banked on being. Over time he’s become used to watching his back, and sadly, being targeted from all angles. You must be able to pick up on that too, if you think about it from his shoes like I say.

@@PaterExcelsior I don't care to. The guy has royally pissed me off because he lied to everyone. He lied, he used the money for his personal expenses rather than for the movie, its taken over 10 YEARS to produce, at the time when it was in the early pre production planning stages, when CBS sent a notice to cease productions, it was his own ego that caused the legal incident to get out of control. Other fan productions knew when to not disobey what CBS says, and whether you agree with it or not, the IP belongs TO CBS/Paramount. It never was ours to mess with. We were given extensive privileges to produce fan films and series, but when Star Trek officially came back in production for the small screen, that is when they decided to revoke said privlieges. But instead of cooperating, Alec took it to court, lost, has remained defiant since, has violated his settlement agreements, and has outright misappropriated funds. Trust me, I've been following this situation ever since I donated 50 dollars to the project. And over the decade, I've learned that AP is not to be trusted. Look at what he did with Propworx and what he did with Gary Hutzel's widow's finances. He's not the guy that should be running a fan production or anything CLOSE to fan films. And its not just the Axanar or Propworx issues either, he's been known to cause issues with the other fan productions he was involved with: New Voyages, Continues. Those two had problems with him before, so its not just an isolated issue.

All legit things to say if Alec didn’t spend every second of his life trying to take advantage of people for a buck and continuously lie. His narcism prevents him from doing the very things he claims he’s trying to do. I don’t feel sorry for him at all, his lies walked him right into this mess (remember he said he was having convos with higher ups at cbs, convos with people at Netflix). Also, it’s been proven he blew through all his money spending on himself knowing all well as a former law student what he was doing was wrong if he got caught. He smugly assumed everyone was too stupid and he was too clever, ooops. Axanar should be finished but nobody should celebrate it as long as it’s controlled by madmen and thieves. It violates everything Star Trek stands for.

If only Alec Peters hadn’t spent donor money on himself and didn’t scope creep the project to death and spend all the money. Now he’s dependent on a New Age cult to fund the completion of the short films.

I complained and Alec actually sent me an email reminding me HE lost a lot more than 50 bucks and I was properly chastened. At that time I wasn't aware of any other fan films and getting an Axanar pin was NOT what I was looking forward to. no I wanted to find out about the battle Kirk studied at the academy. Will I ever?????? Now with new ownership of the franchise I hope they loosen restrictions on fan films and I caN see what Garth came up with that seems to be worthwhile for cadets to hear about.

He's a known narcissist and didn't accept blame for his actions. That's who he is. He will never apologize and gladly tell you you're wrong or someone else is wrong, and he's innocent. You need to grow a backbone with guys like him, because they will always DARVO you in situations like this.

I did not send him anymore money. I approached him as a fellow trek fan who had the gumption to address a storyline, Garth, that intrigued me. I confess to being impressed by his CGI presentations. Do you know him personally. I believe YES he invested more than my 50 bucks. yes perhaps he fooled me but I have been in touch with the guy who was involved with the EXCELLENT Star Trek continues. Vic the Wop is what HE calls himself! He too was willing to converse with me. I bring him up as I want to believe these fan films some better than others are made by people NOT trying to gaslight me but by people like me who want more content than Paramount can provide. I was not familiar with DARVO before you mentioned it. paramount DID say specifically Alec was using dough people like me sent him to build a studio for uses other than Trek. I think you are saying that is true. I don't need a backbone but it seems I need to be more cautious with whom I trust even with small amounts of money. sTill if AXANAR IS finally released I will feel somewhat vindicated. I want to believe ALEC would have produced an hour episode at least. But now two 15 minutes segments is all Paramount will allow>. I also want to believe you were not attacking me but warning me. Warning taken.
