that was the best Zakk Wylde tone,thank you for the preset!!

Sounds fantastic man. Some of that record is a Lee Jackson preamp with a Yamaha SPX90 on the symphonic setting which may be why the chorus sounds better after the amp. I love the verses in this song but I actually laughed out loud when I heard the chorus vocals for the first time.
@GregSummersMusic6 жыл бұрын
Yea I remember back in the day hearing about the lee Jackson but seems I thought that didn’t come until the later albums. I’m not totally satisfied with the tone but sometimes you just have to go with it or you will go insane. I remember hearing about the metaltronix as well. Michael Neilson has a cool video out there and yes seems I remember him using that SPX90?

I also think EMG's with their natural compression was a huge part of Zakk's tone. And play it with a ton of agression and tude.

Zakk used those 200 watt EV 12L speakers. I think that would tighten up the bottom of your patch.

Also, in my experience, most pros do not list what brand name(s), or how many, processors they use
@GregSummersMusic4 жыл бұрын
Yes studio recordings are always difficult to replicate, given they can use several different amps, blending them with different mics, etc and then all the eq and processing on top of that.

I cant figure out how he gets that sound in the intro riff. Its almost like a wah or envelope or something on those power chords. It's got a kind of "Womp...Wamp...Wimp" sound but not on the palm muting. Anyone know what this is?
@GregSummersMusic3 жыл бұрын
might be a combination of the chorus effect and something else...but I hear exactly what you mean. His playing style helps as well but may only be a tiny part of it.
@herehere31392 жыл бұрын
To add a little bit of "possible" ideas for that, it also sounds like he didn't strum those power chords fast if that makes sense, it sounds like he strumming those power chords but more "slowly", so as to the individual string notes are not fully separated, but not fully at the same time. If that makes sense, Possibly choked up on the pick in a sort of pinch harmonic hold while doing the slightly slower strum. If he wasn't doing that, I can emulate it by doing that. But if that made sense and sounds good then great!

Hey I’m interested in you home set up. Could you explain the equipment you use and how all of it is connected? I’m looking to get an ax fx 3 but want to plan for how I will connect it to my studio monitors and computer which I will be playing backing tracks through as well as ax fx 3

Sounds awesome! Bridge pup looks very high set which pickups are them? I have Sheptone BK pafs in my Les Paul and I have to set the bridge pup up high like that as well to balance with the neck pup. Just curious I guess lol

Just the stock burstbucker pro. I generally set pickup height to factory spec then tweak to taste.

All I can tell you is trying to do this on the XLII is a pain in the ass. Tried following your settings. Mine sounds almost nothing like it. Took me forever to find a cab IR I liked. Still having issues with this weird hissing issue as well. I think it's got something to do with the drive pedal, but haven't been able to nail down the cause of it yet. I've never done a tone from scratch. First time not just forking over the coin for a pre made patch. I can see where this would take hours to get right, because it's definitely not easy. I can appreciate the fact you got this so close to the original tone.

In this video I am tuned a whole step down for all strings...so D standard but you can also play it in drop D from standard tuning. My guess is since we never see this in a live set, it may be that the guitar is indeed tuned a whole step down, but drop D gets the job done easily, but here my whole guitar is tuned down.

@NitroModelsAndComics2 жыл бұрын
Not everyone has the right gear for this tone. You cant have 30 amps in the house but rhat Axe FX comes pretty damn close. Ive had this JCM since new and its been all over with me. The Explorer I bought new in 85 so this stuff is like family at this point. The 50 watt has been kind of sidelined for years now as my Boogi Mark IV does all the heavy lifting now. But I do whip it out once in a while to make sure it still rips. It never dissapoints.

@@NitroModelsAndComics I’d love to get an 800 one day but I just don’t have the opportunity to gig amps anymore. I’ve had my Bogner ecstasy for over 20 years and that one has seen a lot of action but for several years it’s been in my office. Just can’t play it loud anymore.
