i get a fairly good tone after 10 minutes :P. Now perfecting it has taken years. Always improving. :) Awesome guide!

Thank you so much for this video! I just got an old Boogie MkIV combo and want to try running it in 4CM with my AxeFXIIXL. I wasn't quite sure about how to set up the gain staging (I/O levels) and I found this video very informative and helpful!

I know this is an old video, so may not get an answer but I’ll try. Would it be possible to do a version of this method but with two amps in stereo? Like a 7 cable method? Guitar>Fractal In>Fractal left and right out>2 amp inputs>Both Amp’s FX send>Fractal left and right in>Fractal Left and Right out> Both Amp’s FX return That way you can run any stereo effects (delay, reverb, etc) with your two amps as left and right. Also just curious if the Axe FX II is still a viable piece of gear in 2023. Everything I read says that it holds up pretty well to the Axe FX III, but that the III obviously does more. I see you have had both, so wondering your thoughts. Thank you!

Probably better to run the axe fx on your wet side only, using 4CM. from axe FX it can go into a mixer/splitter, which splits signal with one line going back to the wet amp and the other going to your second amp's FX return.

How do I turn off all the Axe preamps? Should I replace them w/ FX loop blocks?
@FlashGrover5 жыл бұрын
You only need 1 efx loop block to create 4CM; check the manual. Heaps of info there

Don't suppose you have a axefx 3 yet eh? Can't find any videos anywhere. I followed the manual but I'm a little nervous turning on my 150w amp...

So, sine you never showed which cale goes where from the back of the Axe-FX, are you running the Axe as nothing but effects and all into the amp effects loop, or are you running some pedal effects on the Axe into the front of the amp and others like delay, reverb into the amp effects loop?? You never made this anywhere near clear! Thanks!

4CM is setup as in the Axe FX manual. There are no pedals involved & yes its only running effects (delay, reverb into the amp effects loop)

Flash....you still using the Axe Fx II in 4CM or have you switched to the FX8? I've been a long time Axe Fx user for the past 9 years and recently bought the Mesa TC-50 head and a FX8. Have not set up the FX8 yet, but curious if I should run the Axe Fx II with Mesa in 4CM. Any noise issues with Axe Fx II running 4CM? I know the FX8 is suppose to have a lower floor noise for 4CM. Thanks for advice!

still using the Axe FX & loving it. you are lucky - you can do either. Axe FX still has very low noise ratio so 4CM is no issue. Gates will also help keep noise away

Is it possible to keep the cab models on with this method and use them as an impulse response for the tube head? I mostly want to get a tube head for recording purposes and just run it through a loadbox into my interface.

yes - no reason it shouldn't work

hi, in a situation of 4cm, what would be a way to alternate between the fx loop and my actual amp by foot? thanks
@FlashGrover6 жыл бұрын
you'll need to setup 2 different patches in the Axe FX that uses the effects loop block. Patch #1 has the effects loop engaged (and no amp block) so the signal will be routed 4CM & into your actual amp. Patch #2 will have the effects loop block removed from the chain + you'll need to engage an Axe FX amp block & this will get sent into the power section of your amp.
