"People have been smart for a long time". I am guilty of thinking of people in the past being quaint, or simple. The only thing I can think causes that is how mass media looks at people in the past. When you read what they wrote and did, in the context of their time, we've always had deep thinkers about what they're doing. Their brains were essentially identical to ours, and until the industrial revolution, had the passed on experiences of all the prior generations. It's great we have so many ways of passing information now days.

It seems, in general, people are less smart these days. They let “machines” do too much of the “thinking”.

Why even TRY to use an axe thats so dull, it POUNDS the wood till it BREAKS!! For that matter, why waste time with an axe? It's time to use the carving tool for the bowl.
