Stoicism is a philosophy and people that practice it believe they don't control the world around them, only how they respond-and that they must always respond with courage, temperance, wisdom, and justice. Marcus Aurealius (Joaquin Phoenix’s dad in Gladiator) utilised this philosophy to become a better ruler of the Roman Empire. Behavioural signs of a stoic is someone that has a calm demeanour.
