i can remember getting off my 12 hour shifts at 7 in the morning....soul sucking factory job. trudge out to the parking lot and climbing into a 1965 malibu that i was halfway through restoring, putting RacerX on the fully configured stereo and blasting it at stadium volume as i left the parking lot. For me this is Paul's area of excellence. This ferocious clean attack of a pick is all that is....That was his tone, that was his style, that was what made him instantly recognisable. He wasn't a YJM clone, he was a power force to behold and kept his own shining light around him.....With all do respect to his musical tastes now, in the musical filed he walked into, there are thousands better........I miss THIS Paul...

Jesus this guy shreds it never gets old, can't believe I learned this when I was 16. Also can't believe that a stupid hand injury cost me most of my ability and gave me early onset arthritis at 27. If you are a guitarist, or any musician for that matter protect your hands like they are your exposed and delicate brain, because they are. They are your livelihood, your emotional outlet, your passion, your tools for work, your control over the future. Take out an insurance policy on them, make it one million dollars, because with enough practice and determination any guitarist can become great or get even better, you might just be the next Paul Gilbert. This makes me sad, take care of your hands.
@nickhall_music3 жыл бұрын
Was just thinking the same thing. I messed up my left hand pinky at 27 and it requires my entire forearm to move it still. Gave up on the shred journey
@natam16163 жыл бұрын
@@nickhall_music sad to know that, i hope you guys can find joy playing another instrument, or the same in a diferent way. I know how it is to have an injury and feel limited, lose some ability, but if we seat and give up we lose even more. Wish you guys well.
@nicwilson893 жыл бұрын
Currently recovering from a not severe enough for surgery but enough so that I have no strength injury Dave Mustaine had. Peripheral neuropathy . It was completely dead, disconnected from the brain, no control, after much time to heal can only lift my hand just above parallel several times before it gets too exhausted to do it again. Can only just type with multiple fingers on that hand...for a while...then just a pointer finger. I couldn't even lift or move the mouse at first. Right hand and right handed so, yea... Did it the same way, too. Fell asleep with an arm trapped over a chair. I didn't know if it would heal at first, it was terrifying. It's been months and I still can't play yet.
@turolretar3 жыл бұрын
That’s opposite for me, I remember I broke my wrist and after couple of months healing I was playing guitar a lot better no joke, that hand is still a lot stronger to this day, guess I got lucky
@nicwilson893 жыл бұрын
@@turolretar yea, had it also caused never damage...there's no garuntee that you'll regain any control at all, and nerves take *months* to heal, slowly, and in that time your muscle atrophies from being disconnected from the brain essentially. You have to essentially start building up your stamina in just using the hand/arm slowly once, and if, the nerve damage starts to heal. I mean, Dave Mustaine literally had to re-learn how to play guitar because the way he had control over that hand was different than it was originally, and from so long of not playing. It can be a very, very cruel mistress. Glad to hear you ended up even better, though, haha. Pretty good trade off for the whole painful breaking of bones and what not part :D

@miza47092 жыл бұрын
