Never liked watching meticulously painted units played over the KZbin myself although they do look impressive, I agree it's hard to determine what the unit is and also the Nation they're suppose to belong to! Sanding away the mold lines makes it look like a brand new looking piece, if it wasn't so tedious to paint and sand them I might've start trying it- in the meantime I'll stick with simply paint tipping them, but I do put decals on much of my units though!!!

Agree with you on custom painted pieces being instantly recognisable on the board. There's some incredible painted pieces out there but ease of gameplay should always be top priority. Great job with the customising of your pieces man. I'm REALLY jealous of what you have. Great work!

Good Captain; been playing AAA since it first came out: love the game and have all of them. Been watching your videos; great information; great feedback. First you should do a full video on magnetizing the pieces. Your advise was the best I have seen; pen drill; I ruined so many pieces until I saw that; just finished doing all my pieces! Thank you! Second; I would like to pick your brain on how you feel about certain countries had different attack and defense values. I bring this up for example; German tanks and even subs were better in war especially in the beginning of the war. Japanese fighters; pilots were better than anyone. Thoughts? And lastly House Rules; would enjoy your thoughts on House Rules; Ex: Spies? Any house rules you like. Enjoy your videos; looking forward to your next one! Thank you!

Really awesome to hear that you're having better luck with your pieces! I do have strong feelings about realism in axis and allies and will probably release a video in about 3-4 months about this, after my 1914 series which will drop shortly. In short though, I feel that the pieces in this series of games are a projection of military clout and are not to be interpreted literally. I say this as someone who is heavy into hex based wargames where the detail of which you speak is expected. I see this type of game closer to Risk than to something like, say, Advanced Squad Leader. The simplicity is part of the appeal and greatness and should probably be left as is lest the player base be narrowed by the addition of more rules. For house rules, I have a video titled "In Defense of Out of Box Rules" on this channel. I might need to do an update on that one not because my opinions have changed but because I have more points to make. I know this response is kind of a letdown to many but I don't think my opinion on this will change anytime soon. Anyway, glad you're enjoying the channel!

I buy fron HBG the 1941 soviet aircraftcarriers, and reemplace the UK carriers USSR use.

Miguel Valladares good point! I intentionally left out my comments regarding soviet AC. They never had one on the drawing board as far as I can tell and so I was okay to just leave it being British. BTW I didn't realize that 1941 had a unique Russian AC, that's awesome!

@@thegoodcaptain1217 The Russian AC in the 1941 edition was the weirdest decision ever made in the unit lineup for Axis & Allies, because when do you ever need a Russian AC??? 😂😂😂 Just think how many ACs the US and UK had during WW2 while the Russians had simply none. And then you go for an AC that never made it beyond a basic planning process?

Your link to your sanding twigs no longer works. Is there an Amazon alternative?
@thegoodcaptain1217
@thegoodcaptain1217 3 жыл бұрын
Dang. You're right. That sucks as I ordered those regularly from that site. There is probably an alternative but don't buy anything until you confirm what type of sanding grain is in the pack. The higher the grit number in the sanding grain, the better for what we use them for (plastic pieces). Don't get something with low grit numbers or you will sand off chunks of the pieces. If I find something I will update my description box and post it here.

yeah, I don't like painted minis on the board, it's a board game not a tabletop war game, you need to be able to tell nations at a glance, and it slows the game right down lol

@@thegoodcaptain1217 Please specify whether your video showcases the small naval bases and air base towers or the regular ones. I found them at shapeways: The small naval bases are offered by EBard Models, the small air base towers by TableGameWiz. 12 small naval bases cost 22.55 $ and 10 small air base towers cost 19.89 $ each. Plus 10 bucks for shipping. How many would you recommend? I guess two packages each would do the job, right?
@thegoodcaptain1217
@thegoodcaptain1217 3 жыл бұрын
@@christophneuschaeffer7489 great question. Order history says I ordered 30 small airbases, naval bases and minor IC. I ordered in two separate orders. The first order was the fewest amount of smalls per spru to make sure they scaled with the rest of the pieces correctly. After they checked out, which they did, I placed a second order. Might recommend the same to you if you’re unsure of what size you’re going for...
@christophneuschaeffer7489
@christophneuschaeffer7489 3 жыл бұрын
@@thegoodcaptain1217 Thank you for your reply. As I live in Germany, shipping costs are an issue here. But following the description of EBard Models, I guess the small units are the correct ones. He writes: »Each model is approximately 20mm wide by 15mm long (10mm base + 5mm pier) by 8mm tall. Oil tank large enough to support Axis & Allies Anti-Aircraft gun piece on top of it. Set includes 12 identical models representing small naval bases. Models are connected by a thin plastic sprue to keep them together during the printing process. This smaller naval base is a perfect size for the board game, it doesn't take up too much space (it's basically the size of a tank piece) but provides a great visual improvement over 2D base markers. Base modeled to represent a small garrison naval base in the south pacific; contains an oil tank, flag, radio tower, pier, Quonset hut, and supplies next to pier.«

Well, this is the topic of conversation starting at 14:16. It's more specifically addressed at 15:27. But to restate, yes...there are 2mm magnets installed in each carrier to pair with the 2mm magnets installed in each aircraft.
