Dwight, You mentioned "twist" in the 999 wing. As an former hang glider pilot do you mean the ART 999 has aerodynamic wing twist? This is where the angle of attack of the outer wing tips is lower than the AOA at the root cord thereby allowing the outer wing section to still maintain lift and flight even when the center root cord section is stalling? Thus allowing lower overall stall speed for the wing and a less abrupt more gentle stall when it does? Thanks.

yes, there is a tiny amount of twist in just the wing tips. Hard to see unless someone shows it to you. HPS has it too. Makes the foils user friendly. Delays stalling. Better turning. They don’t turn like flat wings. They turn more like surf wings, kinda….

@@foilsurfmachines Thanks! Sure looks and sounds like a great wing!! Might work well for windfoiling too?

@@foilsurfmachines that's really interesting! What does the square wing tips achieve compared to traditional tips?
@foilsurfmachines3 жыл бұрын
@@tom-foilA pointed wing tip is less drag, but will stall and drop you instantly. GoFoil added winglets to solve this. Airplanes have winglets. For foilers, winglets are a hazard and break. Wider wing tips with twist to delay tip stalling is a great solution.

Great video, thanks for making! I am kind of geeking out with Wing Foiling getting faster and more efficent ... it was already fun now more fun. Very cool how your board matches a a high aspect front wing foil. As I look for a proper board "smaller than my learning 150L" I wonder what your board is as far as length, width and boyance. Also I how your weight compairs to boyance. I am 170 lbs / 77kg and will mostly be in fresh water lakes. The new Armstrong boards look wicked ... same as the price. Your board looks like it has more boyancy in back vs ... Looks cool. Any feadback or advice is very welcome. 🙂

It looks like the SABFOIL W1000. Fast for racing but nobody surfing properly 2m or bigger waves is using this shape.Bigger wingspan and long fuselage increase radius of turn

Thanks for the review. What length fuselage and rear wing are you using with this new front wing?

Tail is prototype, fuse is short.

What rear wing and size do you prefer with the ART 999? Looks like the new AXIS PROGRESSIVE REAR WINGS
@foilsurfmachines3 жыл бұрын
I prefer the Progressive 375 with it. I had the Progressive 400 on it when I shot the video.

@@foilsurfmachines Whyd you switch? Im currently thinking about whether I want the 400 or 375 progressive wing. Thanks!
@foilsurfmachines2 жыл бұрын
@@sikguystg 375 matches the power level and speed of the 999 best. 400 adds stability, but feels a bit limiting on the top end. Both work fine.

Cool stuff! I checked out Johnny Heineken, amazing! Watched the video of him at Arlington in the Gorge. Winging looks perfect for riding the swells there, as with windsurfing you have to luff the sail and try to surf. Winging looks more natural on the swell there. On another topic, saw Naish saying that winging out numbers windsurfing/kiting combined on Maui. Was in Pensacola the other week and the light bulb (finally) went off, winging is probably the best thing to do there with the huge bays and gulf on the other side! (I stopped dragging windsurfing or SUP equipment down there a long time ago). Interesting info on the foils! Speed is always king it seems.

Man, that will be fun!!! Such a great playground!! I miss the annual trips out there! My buddy Chris (who windsurfed with us) owns 6th St Bistro. He called me the other night to tell me Dave Kalama was there eating dinner, LOL!
