Bowhunt Downunder

Bowhunt Downunder

4 жыл бұрын

A spot and stalk hunt for axis/chital deer out on the flats of central Queensland is no easy feat, especially with a bow in your hands.
Closing the gap and staying undetected out in this open country takes a little skill and alot of patience at times, but bowhunting deer is 2nd nature to the boys from Bowhunt Downunder. Jerry is put to the test as an old stag catches his eye and beds in a killable position if Jerry can stay undetected and not bump any unseen doe out of the long dry grass.

Well done mate! I just binge watched 4 of your vids and these vids are next level. The cinematography and music is so on point it makes you feel like you’re actually there. Coming from someone who has never hunted before, but spends a lot of time out bush, the draw for me to get into bow hunting is huge, especially after watching a vid like this. Keep it up mate. I look forward to your next vid!

Great to hear that from a non hunter, I hunt cause it feels so natural and right so just be warned if its in your blood when you start you might not want to stop.

It's always great to see a hunter just let the hunt play out- good or bad. The sign of a true hunter. It can be so very difficult to not push the situation on any shot. I think one just has to have a few kills to learn to control the adrenaline. Well over 50 years ago I began a mental game when getting ready to make a shot ( bow or rifle) on any animal. After years of taking hundreds of rabbits, I would remind myself " this shot is another rabbit shot". Because there was no more " anxiety " involved in rabbit hunts this mental attitude really eliminated anxiety when making a shot on big game animals. For the new hunters out there- it's basically just like training for anything. Repetition creates familiarity which in turn gives one the ability to control yourself. Maybe you can't control the situation, but you can learn to control yourself. ITS A MIND THING!

Will axis deer caller spook fallow if they are in the area ? Or will the other species come in to it as well ? Cheers awesome video
@bowhuntdownunder314
@bowhuntdownunder314 4 жыл бұрын
wouldn't think so, fallow are way more aggressive and territorial. males and females sound way different as does the sound of antlers when fighting. Saying that I haven't hunted an area with both chital and fallow together but, where I hunt fallow there is red deer they both rut at similar times and theres not to much confusion as both sound and act different, red arc up when I rattle fallow and Fallow bucks shape up to red stags when they get close to each other even though they are half the size. And where I hunt chital there are rusa deer and they seem to tolerate each other as well, antlers and male calls again sound way different Doe call are similar in some ways but different pitches and tones, one thing that is common among all deer that I have hunted is alot respond to distress calls you use for predators. Fallow are one of the more aggressive deer I ve hunted, chital are the prettiest but the toughest buy far.

Yeh we shoot a stack of does each year. This stag didn't have the best genes, high and short inners compared to what else is walking around. His body shape is that of a mature deer, deeper solid chest compared to 3.5 year and under males which look lankier and leaner, plus he had worn teeth as we also expected so he was a perfect candidate to take out, just saying.
