¡Ayúdame! (Venezuelan plea for life) - Dr. Aspaas and TCU Chorale

When was the last time you were hungry and could not immediately eat? or thirsty and could not find water for hours? This is heartbreaking: to see my country, my family, suffering. I come from Venezuela and I did go through difficult times. Since I could not do much from where I was to help, I decided to fight my pain. I asked myself all the questions and cried while working on my desk, so comfortable yet feeling so guilty and helpless. When was the last time you were sick and could not find the medicine to feel better or even to keep living?

Just watched the TTCCDA choir perform this at TMEA 2024 and have never been so moved during a musical work in my life. Seeing some of my friends perform this with such conviction and intensity made me physically weep and sob in the audience. This composition of yours is truly a masterpiece and needs to continuously be shared and heard because of the incredible and universal message that many face to many different degrees. As a future music educator in south Texas, thank you endlessly for reminding me of what music is really about.

I was in the TMEA 2024 audience for this performance, as well. My daughter was in the choir. Like you, I wept. I still can't find the right words to describe the emotions that overwhelmed me...that overwhelmed us. What we heard, and what we saw, was extraordinary and heartbreaking.

performing this on stage will forever be a moving and powerful experience for me. I was shaking long after the piece had stopped. incredible work, sir!

Mr. Cordero, I found this piece last week at Midwest ACDA via NOTUS and I must say, it is SO moving. I am really hoping to program this piece as part of my masters conducting recital. Thank you for sharing your story and your art, I hope I get the chance to meet you and thank you in person one day!
