For those not in the loop, his spin at 0:40 is a bit of an inside joke. The cast of Haruhi had to learn the dance for a performance at the Lantis Festival. Sugita hated the process, because he didn't want to dance and didn't like dancing, and would silently rage as the dance coach kept pushing him and questioning his motivation. In protest, he decided he would go rogue at some point in the actual live performance, and that spin came out in the live performance while the rest of the cast stuck to the planned choreography
