Probably worse. Through the camera and youtube compression, things look better than they might be in real life. You can't see any imperfections or lost frames in videos.

@@XSpImmaLion Size and form factor was a big thing for me; I don't play many triple AAA games but I would like to have something that can cover my Steam and GoG Library but in an actual portable manner (something like the PS Vita) but still have a bit of capability to be able to do higher end things. Anyway - I actually I got my Aya Neo Air yesterday and am really loving it! didn't think I would give two hoots about the OLED screen but even with old games; it just sparkles! Ergonomics feel great as well. One downside which has been highlighted in numerous videos is the battery life - it's not bad but high end games do chew through it quickly.

Man, Aya is really stepping up with their devices, they look cleaner than a freaking seasoned veteran like Nintendo. It's impressive. I'm a big fan of the "no screws" aspect of the device.

The different between the old Nintendo/Sony/MS with other console maker, they make hardware+ software to support the hardware not just release new model every 6 month like Ayaneo/GPD/Ambernic.. imagine if Nintendo/Sony/MS release new hardware everyear like mobile phone maker, they will screw their user and remove the support for sure and move on to new hardware everytime..

sony got short end of the stick somehow, they tried so hard and made so many PSP and PSVita but didnt sell and people bought gaming phones instead. then suddenly nintendo made switch, gpd and ayaneo and valve made them too, now they have all the money.

it must be the games. the library of psp and vita just wasn't as popular as the competition. but switch has every popular nintendo game, and Steam Deck and ayaneos have almost every PC game PLUS the entire nintendo library AND a lot of sony library - PS3, Vita and PS4 games slowly become compatible as the emulators improve.

But honestly... for the money, I've well gotten my moneys worth in the few months i've had my steam deck. Worth every penny. I like the steam deck slightly more then these Chinese manufacturers because software support it's probably better and much more long-term, the steam store is already integrated.. part availability and repairability.. you can buy almost all the parts from ifixit.. customer support when it comes to replacement.. accessories.. I'm probably forgetting a few..

Software support is Windows so its standard & compatible with everything .. customer support is fantastic from my experience on their older device .. parts availability I agree with you, its there but takes some time to reach you

Deck is also cheaper, has great low power performance, has the dual touchpads which are a godsend for launchers etc, has the rear buttons which i use daily etc. I spent so long tossing up which handheld to get, and i'm glad I got the deck.

Just check the right stick and ABXY buttons location on your SD comparing to ayaneo first. Then ask yourself if that is comfortable or playable at all.

with steam deck valve has invented the perfect controller. the handles, buttons, joysticks and d-pad are all incredibly comfortable to hold for hours even in difficult games and in my opinion even beats Xbox 360 controller.

The AN2 looks beautiful and its prelim specs sound --extremely-- intriguing. It's a very nice unit and definitely looks clean. Design is easy on the eyes and has room for stretching out the digits without accidental presses or cramped design resulting in elimination mis-pressing the wrong button(s). Ehhh while I love the touchpads on the steam deck specifically for pc gaming I do find having them being a huge compromise for the location of the buttons and dpad. I hate playing 2d games on my steam deck, its honestly one of the most uncomfortable 2d gaming handhelds, especially if I'm trying to play fighting games. The location of the dpad is not only awkward but not comfortable when trying to perform half circles.

It's impressive but its probably going to be more than the steam deck, and while it is more powerful, the drain on battery life makes it basically not worth it unless tethered to a wall, but I'd definitely say I liked the form factor or the screen blows the steam deck out of the water, I just think the steam deck can do 90% of this and probably cheaper

if you dont have a handheld pc yet you can get anything and they are all quite good as long as they are unlocked hardware and you can install any OS you want (unlike switch and android devices) but if you already have a handheld pc you can use, i recommend you wait for steam deck 2 because i guarantee you it will leapfrog the specs of everything else again, remember how when steam deck first shipped there was actually nothing else shipped with RDNA2 yet because valve got there first

Wow, that looks so clean. I love the glass on the entire face, but hate the fragility that comes with this. I have kids and I’m not sure how it would last with them running around. I already am very careful with my deck, but accidents, even from myself, do happen. I’d wonder how easy/difficult replacement and repairs would be.

As much as I want to like AYANEO 2's next-gen technology, Valve Steam Deck is better for mobile gaming especially in the crucial area of price point. Price it like the handheld that it is, not an entry-level gaming laptop at $1099 starting at retail. Also, I understand you are wanting to be impartial by mentioning the processor temperature differences. However, the Deck's higher temperatures are an immaterial one, which I will explain now. 90-100 Celsius degrees on modern processors is well within safe margins established for full expected longevity. That means such temperatures can easily be maintained for even decades without any degradation to the silicon. On the long-term comfort and fit and feel, you will not feel uncomfortable in the slightest from that heat. Reviewers have noted of the Deck that in practice, the exhaust air temperatures are far cooler than the processor temperatures on the silicon internally. The long and short of it is the extra performance is nice to have, but you will pay for it in battery life that is on gaming laptop levels. I will patiently wait for a Steam Deck 2 that has an actual tablet-class processor (not a laptop one) which is properly tuned across silicon, firmware, and microcode for ultra-low power operation.

I think if Ayaneo made their products at a reasonable price for the average consumer, they would be leading the handheld market. This handheld seems like a step in the right direction as it looks and (supposedly) feels more comfortable. Which a lot people are looking for in their collection.

It's not possible, Valve is taking a loss on the Steam Deck because they can make up the difference with game sales. Ayaneo has not other way to make money after the device is sold. I'm sure they could lower the price but the quality would take a massive dip. It sucks because I would love this to be more affordable, I would even consider switching from my Steam Deck.

In all fairness, the advantage of playing old retro games on such a powerful device is that you can upscale well, and maybe even utilize wide-screen hacks without any compromises.

My standards of operations with Handheld gaming PCs are: Mobile on the go - 720P low settings @15W or lower to maximize battery Power cable/docked on couch/bed - Crank the wattage, max settings if it achieves 60FPS

2:28 TBH, I would not consider it a buzzword. The way it works means that the joysticks are way more durable and with zero drift. Which makes you consider why on earth we've allowed it when the Dreamcast had them 2 decades ago already. Specially on "premium" stuff like the XBox elite.

it is AMAZING how well AMD and Valve design on Steam Dec SOC translated to market, laptops with 6800h and no descret GPU are amazing, this wave of 6800 handhelds are awesome too. really good product AMD, i think AMD totally owned this generation of mobile CPU despite lack of single core performance, low power consumption and powerfull GPU and outstanding cpu perfomance killing all intel efforts only chungus gaming laptops with dGPU are reasonable place for intel CPU

Touchpads aren't necessarily cheap if the steam deck didn't have support of steam it'd be insanely expensive
