I only know Frieren because I read the manga and haven't watched the anime yet. One day, I randomly got recommended this song and when I understood the lyrics I instantly knew it was about Frieren. YOASOBI is on another level when it comes to capturing the essence of a story and turning it to music. One of my favorite songs that they made was Gunjou and it was about Blue Period, I was surprised to find out that it was not the actual OP of the anime!

I know English is a difficult language for those who did not grow up learning it, and even then, it is still difficult for fluent speakers. Making songs with English lyrics has always been a challenge for music makers because the meanings you want to convey and the words you want to use don't always flow the way you desire. That being said, this song did well conveying the message of missing someone who has passed away and left you behind to live in a world without them.

でも海外のライブで英語版歌うと、逆に観客のファンが日本語版で歌い返してくるって笑い話にしてたな。 でもそれでいいと思う。むしろ素晴らしいことだ。アーティストからは多様なファンに作品とそこに込めた想いを届けるために尽力した結果と、ファンからはオリジナルである日本語版とアーティストへのリスペクトを伝えんとした結果だ。
