I adore Selena. She’s my favorite character in the game, I’m one of “those” people who was yelling at everyone to vote for her during Eden Festival, she’s what got me stuck onto PGR. Even my non-PGR playing friends know I live laugh love Selena. …That being said, if the RDV event was for literally ANYONE BUT HER I would not have done it, at least not as quickly as I did. I still have parts left to finish, I just grabbed the shards, and I still didn’t get the Ayla skin which is SUPER ironic considering the topic of the video 😭 I do have to say, I wish she had more connection to other characters. I get that’s kind of the point of her story where she went through all this because Babylonia abandoned her crew and the only one who truly sought her out during that time was Ayla (SKK was implied to have been too swamped to do much; also let’s face it, no matter who Selena likes more, Ayla had known her for much longer). But she does exist in a bit of a void, and I do hope that as the story continues we get to see her pop up more as she wanders earth and (hopefully) recovers outside of Selena specific events. And yeah, poor Ayla :< I understand any gachas with your typical “waifu bait” will prioritize player-character interactions over character-character but come on, they’ve been friends for YEARS. Even if there is romance involved and Selena just doesn’t reciprocate, let them have their moments! Characters always simping for the mc is probably my least favorite trope in the sort of games, even if it’s how they draw in players…I want to give Selena infinite pats but let her have a life besides just me!! (Now if you’ll excuse me I’m off to bolt my windows and tell my family to keep an eye out for any pink haired girls…)

She's definitely the most "bro" of the female constructs, and she makes it clear that she genuinely enjoys your presence, but, yeah, the friendzone is clearly the closest we'll ever get. That's ok, though. It's nice to see some friendships that aren't presented in a toxic way when the romantic boundary is reached but not crossed. On the other hand, Ayla kind of comes across as somewhat shallow personality. She's genuinely wholesome and a good person, but I'm not seeing much depth to her motivations or beliefs. She does what she does because she's good at it and she enjoys it. That's fine, but it doesn't appeal to my personality, which is why we would be friends but not romantic interests. On the third hand, I recently started the Hanying story, and the first thing I thought was, "She's literally an introverted Ayla!" and I was almost immediately smitten!

I've lately been really frustrated with how PGR is going. I completely dropped the story after Echo Aria and these EXHAUSTING, boring events like Reactivovuvwhatever. I've been playing since launch and I have started positively about the story thinking "oh they'll add more cut scenes, voice acting and maybe even Live2D once they get budget" but nope. Boring, HOURS long chapters that I don't have the time to read away. The gameplay is the only reason I'm playing now, and honestly it seems that won't change.

Oh. People disliked the gameplay of that event? I just did 10 stages daily (or more) for the daily bonus and cleared the shop out before I could even notice. I actually... kind of was hoping for there to still be more rewards so I could warrant playing it more. I only finished maxing out the appearance rate for a single school of combat (lightning). As for story... Those story beats were encountered so infrequently that, with the total lack of other appearances from Selena in other chapters, I'm questioning how canon she is. Honestly, the fact that she feels like a character whose reunion only exists in dreams is both fascinating and hilarious. She is, without a doubt, the most popular "waifu" to the playerbase. The fact that her reunion with the Commandant maybe entirely made up is so audacious I can't help but be impressed. All that said. I'm never going to be able to see Ayla the same way. God dammit... It's like a creepypasta version of a sweet kids cartoon. Why would you do this?? Fun conversation. Thank you for the beautiful editing to accompany this conversation.

To be fair to Ayla, given how Selena ended up I’d be pretty hell-bent on rescuing her if I were in her shoes. The fault mainly lies with Kuro Games for not adding much in regards to Selena and Ayla’s relationship since they wanted to focus more on Selena and Commandant’s past. Hopefully Ayla’s next frame and story helps rectify that. Personally, I like how Ayla’s affection story is a lot more friendly-oriented with Commandant compared to most others. Not everyone needs to have a romantic moment with them, and Ayla still has some flirty lines but they could be taken as just harmless teasing. And lol I didn’t see the romantic connection between Ayla and Selena until you pointed out just how much she’s obsessed with her. It’s a bit sad that if Ayla did romantically love Selena, it was one-sided, but I can see her being supportive of Selena and Commandant’s relationship regardless. And thank god for no more super grindy events like that again. Still haven’t gotten Capriccio because I hated going through that event

What happens when an Unstoppable Yandere Ayla collides with an Immovable Lucia? Actually I guess that's just the CN Ice Team lol. Grinding RdF was definitely... a lot. One thing I will say I appreciate about the game mode is that because it is a roguelike, it gives you the opportunity to try out frames and even whole team comps if you're willing to reroll enough. Which for a relatively new player (~8 months now) let me actually experience what the full comp for each element played like in several different kinds of fights.

Despite RdF being awkward for veterans, it's definitely great for new players! We've always seen it as more of a mode for new players. The very next patch at the end of September introduces another similar game mode for everyone to enjoy. It also makes me happy to know that RdF will be updated in the future with the most recent characters, giving it a lot more variety! It's great that RdF was able to help you get a feel for all the Omns. Also, huge fan of your Monster Hunter videos 🥰PGR and MH really do have a lot of overlap in appeal -- cool customisation, addictive gameplay loop, well designed fights!

Actually RDF was the best because you can get Selena for free and you can SS her in PPC. Plus you can get coating and other extra things in RDF's shop. I got her and her 6* weapon since release and I'm F2P. Alot of players begged Kuro to keep RDF's event so that they can get her and the other extra things on RDF's shop. You said it's boring because you didn't read the whole story and you kept skipping them in both Selena Tempest and Selena Capriccio. I can tell you that because you can't even answer me who sent Riot to Selena to stop and kill her? Who was that heartless one that ordered to do that to her? Also, who was prisoning Selena Capriccio in RDF? Was all those multiple Selena Capriccio that Commandant saw real? if so, then which one was the real Selena? And was Selena's Capriccio story real or Illusion? Also, Ayla is not obsessed with Selena because they're bestfriends and she was fighting all she got because she was angry on Ascendant over all those years and she was hoping that Selena was still alive, Ayla said "what she feels" towards Selena because she was her bestfriend and valuing her, Kuro said that Selena and Ayla are bestfriends and not lovers. And she actually hugs everyone and not only females because she hugged Commandant too in RDF.

The more I play Pgr the more I really grow distant from how Selena has been written. And the character that suffer the most of it is none other than Ayla. She suffers because she's only treated as Selena's satellite character, and all that she does barely revolves around herself. And yet Selena has never actually aknowledged her, even before she lost her memories. I wish Selena was written as less focused on Skk, because she had people before getting abandoned in the Space Station and eventually thrown in the Red Ride. And I wish to see more of Ayla as a stand alone character, especially after reading the RdF (Reinaissance du Fantastique) chapter summary. Also very much agree on Recitativo, I finished all of it but it was HELL.

RdF was kinda boring but I did have some fun the first time playing through each endings. Daily missions give like 1 shard everyday and took like 5 mins to clear on the easiest difficulty so I didn't have to grind much, just took some waiting lol.

I only needed the R&D tickets and other Rewards. I randomly unlocked Selena while I was playing the story mode and payed a visit to the research shop. I still grinder for Selena’s shards much later to get to SS on Selena.

Tldr: Selena has no romantic feelings to ayla and vice-versa. Ayla is obssessed on saving selena because she knows it wasnt right for fate to choose this option for selena. Think of ayla being itadori from JJK in terms of morality and sense of justice Plus if we based it from original CN translation, selena sees ayla as her dearest friend even the EN localization team poinnted out that the term *mi amor* to selena and ayla is dear friend. I think it was in selena's interlude. Kuro doesnt really focus on construct shipping. All they care is how are they gonna screw and mess with the commandant. literally commandant is an accident prawn always getting kidnapped, tortured, left a donut hole in his/her chest, overworked, being a livestock experiment for kurono etc. If you think ayla likes to flirt and tease commandant, boi wait till you reach S rank ayla story patch and memory fragment

The simple reason is that in a lot of CN based games is that the fans have an insistence on the player character being the only romantic interaction the characters have. Especially with female characters. Any female character having some semblance of a relationship with another character (especially another man) is cause for the CN fanbase to cry out "NTR" and talk about how they've apparently been cheated on. There was actually drama with this on a game called Girl's Frontline 2, where a popular waifu character interacted with a male character, CN players were pissed about it and review bombed the game. Now I don't want to dog on CN fans, it's just that they're typically the majority in being super protective over characters, it's not every CN fan of course.

After I got Ayla's costume from the shop I pretty much treated RDF as if it didn't exist in the game. That's why I have every character so far but Selena Capriccio 😅

Once you get the achievement for beating it at the hardest difficulty, you can beat the 10 stages requirement at the easiest setting to breeze through the stages.The RdF remindes me of Elysian Realm from Honkai Impact 3rd so I was already used to the grind. I do agree that it gets boring after getting the ending, wish there was a special event after clearing up the shop.

Yandere Ayla is someting I had never thought about even though I did go through all the Selena and Ayla's story bits, including Recitativo which, despite the indeed super boring story, has a very fun combat imo. Very fast paced, especially with the different buffs you can get, but I also felt each playthrough was unnessesarily long. Back to the Ayla thing, I can't unsee the Yandere in her now. Thanks.

one of the many cons of gacha stories is the needless characters attracted to the main character (in this case, the commandant). i get that it’s to sell the character as waifus and such but honestly i like interactions between characters more. since the player is supposed to be the commandant, it just feels… distant? anyway selena x ayla ftw

She only has an interest for Commandant but unfortunatly she and Commandant didn't meet yet even Selena Capriccio didn't meet him and what happened between Selena Capriccio and Commandant was not real all that time and it was just an illusion 😢 Selena Tempest is the real one and she's wandering in the world and Selena Capriccio is a copy of her and she's serving Babylonia.

It's why I enjoy HI3's story because the captain (us players) have little to no involvement in the main story so the main cast just bounces off of each other and creates this endearing relationship. Then to make up for the lack of "main character", the Captain is given his own alternate reality scenario in the form of event stories where he is the centerpoint and is honestly so much fun and hilarious go through.

As a new player who started a few weeks ago, I gotta admit, the sheer number of different things available is dizzying Warzone, Pain Cage, Fantasia, Inner World, Co-op, Golden Vortex, Operation Omn, Cinder Burns, Norman Revival, etc etc 😵‍💫😵😵‍💫😵😵‍💫😵😵‍💫

Prioritize weeklies first (War Zone and Pain Cage) then go down the list according to what events expire next (like Norman Revival Plan, Operation Un, and any other patch events). Co-op has a limit to what can be earned each week, but it uses a lot of serum and can be done at any time, so that can be postponed. There is no deadline for Recitativo di Fantasia, Golden Vortex, and the Cinder Burns story, so no rush there.

Can we infer that Kuro views or at least write Commandant as a male? I've seen the Commandant's portrait; he/she looks masculine enough, stance and all, but that info supports the idea of their canon gender.
