For the best, most thorough introduction to Objectivism on KZbin, I recommend watching this video and others in the playlist on my channel: "Introduction to Objectivism - Best Playlist." That playlist's full description contains important information about learning Objectivism. Please enjoy, and share with anyone who might be interested.

just when you think serenity in our time is unachievable, crystal clear logic comes to the rescue.

Reason is too elusive for most people to understand. I always say "let these morons believe whatever they want so long as they have no power." Sadly, that is not the case today, so its time to recover the power from them.

I understand what your saying, and as a adult, "Living by my own rational self interest" was first something for me to grasp hard, as I only had a light grasp of it, (from personal experience). But where I disagree is a matter of time. Yes, through the time of becoming an adult, we are told to sacrifice, that it is better to give than to receive, (or earn), and we take for granted everything man has built before us. But I contend that every one of us, with no exception (with a normal brain, not damaged by birth defect or disease), do have the ability to reason, to properly build concepts,---when we are learning how to talk. The 5 year old, is using his/her 5 senses and their own cognitive reasoning, to figure out the world around them. They are not always correct, (as I thought as a 5 year old that salt and pepper were used to cool my food down, which was later corrected by my own reason). It's what happens after we learn how to talk, that determines our "evolution of reason". I contend that a child learning how to talk, is using reason properly, efficiently, and by nature, has a higher capacity to build concepts properly, than a college graduate from a university can today, who believes the precepts they learned in school are reality, and they are not. They are just precepts. "Reason" can be practiced, and improved, as I am using it more often today. The day "reason" is to become obsolete, is the day mankind becomes obsolete.

@2011rosarot That's an easy thing to answer. Take anger as an example, anger usuall y derives from one being able to change a person's mind, i.e. trying to get someone to see things your way. One can't always get another to do that so, serenity comes from accepting that fact.

What is that word at 5:16? "Luciferously?" That wouldn't fit the context, so I don't think that's it, but I can't figure out what if would be.

@capgains Do I need to spell it out? Oh, another failure of imagination. Radio tower is the Bible, the hanset is a preacher or paster, and the voice 250,000 miles away is God. I thought it was quite simple myself.

@Cstrife234 Where does Jesus say that "if you help others, you help him and you help god"?

@Brantoc oh ok, now i get it but still does not prove god exist. why don't you just say it's just that, part of my imagination. or more like collective imagination.

@Brantoc Your "understanding of god" is a delusion of your own making. I believed for many years and thought myself rational. With hindsight, it's easy to see the deception.

She is exceedingly intelligent, and I agree with her in so many ways, however, her lack of understanding of God is a failure of imagination, and a limitation of knowledge. She is like the wise old caveman saying a mans voice can not be heard 250,000 miles away. A scientist shows her a radio tower that picks up an Astronaut on the moons voice, and plays it on a handheld radio. Her logic tells her, that voice is not coming from a man on the moon, but from the handheld radio.

Ayn was one of those few brilliant minds. When I first came across Ayn about twenty or so years ago, it was refreshing to see someone who thought & saw things exactly as I did & do.

Metaphysically given is everything that is independent of man's actions
