One of the park rangers (from Canada) took pity on me and took me as far as the canteen and souvenier place. The cleanest beach on earth for me. No plastics, no garbage and no cigarette butts.

Assume you saw that Parque Machalilla reposted your video as an example of what not to do. After the video came out, Park Guards and the Navy began patrolling the area to stop those operating illegally (without permits).
@ayngelina2 жыл бұрын
I didn't see that. And actually we didn't know it was illegal as they present it as organized community run tourism and have an office. But I'm a bit confused because it's obvious what they are doing on the beach, they don't hide it. So why wouldn't they have stopped this before?

Hello there. This is andres, naturalist tour guide. I have filed a complaint to the PN machalilla, tourism board of manabi and ministry of tourism about that ridiculous, insensitive, irrational and defaming post. If you check their post now, they have deleted most of the comments and they have mute new ones. I was actually reached out by someone who says works in the park, apparently the issue is that we didn’t get a permit to shot video there. Can you believe they argue that shooting video from a community next to the national park is gonna extinct our natural resources? Instead of harassing people on social media, they should get out and do their job, don’t you think?

My town, Machalilla! Outstanding job covering the Los Ciriales neighborhood where most of the tourism is being developed on the south end. I live in the last house on the north end towards Sombrerito. There are 3 lodges here, but it's very quiet and private compared to Los Ciriales. FYI, if you hike El Sombrerito again, you can continue on the trail south from the lookout point, and the trail will come down to Playa el Descanso de la Tortugas, and Playa la Planchada. It is a little sketchy, but not near as intimidating as the trail down to Playa Rosada. From there, you can walk the beach south all the way back to Machalilla. However, the rocky point between Planchada and Machalilla is submerged at high tide, so the whole trip must be coordinated with the tides. It takes about 2 and half hours (at a very slow pace) to get from the parking area on E15 to my house in Machalilla. If you come, back, let me know and I will hike it with you!

The Machalilla National Park Office has shared your video saying this is against the rules and are asking people DO NOT do this. They insist to all tourist to only use authorized tour companies, which are a few. Please, follow the rules.
@ayngelina2 жыл бұрын
I just saw this. I didn’t know this wasn’t an authorized tour company. They presented themselves as a community run agency with an office. But I don’t understand why there isn’t more policing on this as they are doing it out in the open and not hiding it. They knew I’d be sharing a video.

@@ayngelina Maybe the PNM can't watch everyone? Recently they did a report on people who had anchored and go to the island close to Puerto López, they posted about it. Andres reminded me that when we were snorkeling there was a navy boat right next to us. And I found the video footage of this. I am in 100% agreement that things should be done properly. After all Andres is a national guide and we follow rules. I don’t even fly my drone in National Parks and share on my videos that it’s not permitted which many tourists don’t know because there are no signs. But I tell people and I’ve told other KZbinrs. But honestly I don’t believe it is realistically a tourist’s responsibility to check that a tour has proper papers etc. the navy was out on the water that day and there were a number of community led tours and they did nothing. I feel like they are just saying this now because of my video when really this isn’t a surprise.

That’s not an accurate comparison. But if an organization approached me for a tour and the authorities were there I wouldn’t think anything wrong with it. It’s up to the authorities to make sure things are done correctly not for tourists to navigate what are the proper papers. How do tourists know that the people who approach them in Puerto Lopez are licensed. The authorities were next to us so they can’t say they didn’t know about this.
