I think the sound of Ayreon is unique, capturing over fifty years of rock and blues music. The whole world needs to come to Tilburg (200.000 inhabitants) to see the shows, that are rare, every two year. I can imagine a show like this could run on Broadway if theaters are big enough there, and of course the many vocalists can spare time which may be a nasty problem.

This is beyond any comparison. Ayreon is unique in every aspect. The compositions, the guitar solo's, Joost, all those vocalists, the background vocals that really are absolutely NOT background, the energy and joy that everyone radiates, and yes, last but not least, Dutch Arjen himself. That's one for the history books. So that mankind will never forget Arjen.

Fun fact: Marcela Bovio (one of the Ayreonettes) is Mexican-born, living in the Netherlands. So the best musicians from all over the world love to come and live here! Furthermore: I thought Kamelot, Jinjer, and Unleash the Archers were from the USA/Canada.

You guys are right, Arjens music is very 70s prog rock and metal/hard rock influenced, but with a modern production and sound. This is one of his more straight forwards hard rocking kinda track.

Have you ever reacted to Dream Theater? Not the same as Ayreon, but also with some storytelling and sublime musicians.You could start with one of their shorter and recent pieces (choose the official videos), f.ex. The Alien (Grammy winner) or Untethered Angel (here you can see the musicians - the drummer being Mike Mangini, now substituted by Mike Portnoy, who also was in the band earlier). If you want longer pieces try some from their live concert in The Boston Opera House, f.ex. Illumination Theory (with vocals) or The Dance of Eternity (instrumental),
