Well, Piquet and Senna weren't exactly bitter enemies, they just didn't like eachother outside of the track. They did respect eachother when racing though. When Senna died, Piquet left whatever he was doing to go back to his apartment. A journalist asked him what he thought about Senna's tragic death. He said: "It was clearly steering + rear suspension damage. Rear suspension gets shot, the front of the car lifts off the ground and you can't control it anymore. Thus, he ended up crashing in the wall. Senna... he loved to push himself to the limits, and I'm pretty sure it was entirely possible for him to break any records, including Fangio's. All he had to do was stay in the team and do his best."

@Gopnik_putin_ there is a lot of hype built up around Senna. That hype is 'helped' by the fact he died so we haven't seen him age and decline. He was a great driver, but he was a deeply flawed individual, particularly in the way he raced. In his rivalry with Prost he showed signs of mental illness.

@2mmarcelorj Жыл бұрын
@@Bruno-Marcelo negativo. If you see the footage of the crash between Senna and Prost at Suzuka backthen in '89, you can clearly see when the marshalls pushed Senna back on track, from there he could make the first turn of the chicane! It's a shame he still choose to go straight and didn't fulfill the race distance by "cutting the chicane" and got DQ'ed for that. The should've known the rules, even how silly some may be! He was aware of "the system" that was not realy supporting him against Prost. Every time i watch that video a can't stop myself screeming: TURN RIGHT, TURN RIGHT!
@seandbrass5085 жыл бұрын
Senna went thru the escape road, where you have to zig zag your way thru, as there were those plastic blocks on the escape road. That is the track if you miss the chicane, and he followed protocol. He did the right thing in that situation in itself also he had already lost a lot of time with the crash with Prost. The FIA did Senna dirty that race. Even Piquet a year later said that, the penalty was BS.

Drastic: Piquet and Senna just hated and couldn't see each other. Then the master of cheating started to speak in defense of Ayrton Senna, you have to understand how hugely dirty what happened the year before was. Even Nelson Piquet couldn't stand that.

Senna DSQ at Japan 89 was OK but the thing is they DSQ Senna for the wrong reason. Japanese trackside marshals clearly gave Senna a pushstart all the way Senna's engine stalled. Back in the day the regulation said you can push a car at a dangerous position in terms to put the car outside the track like japanese marshals did with Prost's McLaren. It wasn't the same thing what Senna did asking those marshals to give him a pushstart to rejoin the race. Japanese marshals never pushed Senna's McLaren to the grass outside the track like they did with Prost's McLaren. Everybody knows Senna was like a God in Japan back in those days. Off course japanese marshals were helping Senna and not helping Prost. So Senna was pushstarted. They DSQ Senna for the wrong reason but nevertheless Senna deserved to be DSQ. End of story. Period.

@Artimao11 ай бұрын
@gustavomarques409711 ай бұрын

Same response to Bridget Cox's post..unless im understanding your posts wrong.. they didn't bully against him. Nelson Piquet says they F*cked up the previous year with the terrible ruling they gave Senna. Then Ron Dennis asks everyone if they agree...which they do. So all the drivers were behind and supported Senna in this video. Senna got upset because the FIA bosses were idiots. Senna the Legend!!!
@ajcardiff16 жыл бұрын
Yep, this is correct. Nelson made the point that Senna (and Dennis) made the previous season and the other drivers backed him up. Senna was upset at the way the FIA handled the previous season. He was upset in this video because all the drivers backed up the position he had argued the previous year.

what i will add,is senna probably regretted his actions here...he could get emotional very easily...he's been knwn to cry to at times over racing issues..he got robbed in 89 and it fucked his head up totally....he was obsessed with winning,he.d do things other drivers wouldnt and couldnt..and as for pure speed is the GOAT ..pole position master...and i miss him tbh..thankyou senna..RIP

@mariana_greenday103911 ай бұрын
Ah meu filho kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk ambos eram incríveis.

Nah you guys didn't understand the video. Piquet argued in favor of Senna actually, saying what happened in the previous year was wrong (dangerous) and the rules should change, and everybody agreed. Senna's rage is against the directors, like saying "See? Everybody agrees that what screwed me last year is a bullshit rule". He and Ron Dennis made the same point the year before but it was not accepted then. That said, Piquet indeed was not very friendly with Ayrton usually.
