I love your work. These videos have shown me some of the things I have done wrong with my figures during the clean up process. I really need that oscillating sanding tool.
the sheer amount of time it takes to do this is astounding, I'm always amazed by the dedication to the smallest details, beautiful work.

The way you painted her eyes and first sanded the beveled part of the eyeball truly makes them pop more and makes them look like she has real lashes! I stepped away for a second and had to rewind to see if you added actual lashes! You could be a surgeon with the steadiness of your detail painting! I swear! I need a magnifier with a light to do detail like this! You are so gifted! ❤ The eyes are so important and you knocked it out of the park! Very alluring, yet innocent/ cute! so 3 dimensional. That’s what I love about these pieces they remind me of a modern day version of the Barbas cheesecake pin up girls from the 40s-50s! So cool. I’m in awe. Just awesome! You ROCK! Legendary!

I feel you, I just started painting my own statue and applying masking tapes on a humanoid statue is definitely harder compared to applying it on a Gunpla or scale model since there's almost no flat surfaces and there are some small parts that should've just been a separate piece yet they mold it on the larger pieces instead. It's also especially hard when you're doing it with only one hand Jkjk

must a specific kind of masking tape be used or can I use any kind of masking tape? Also do you know what's the name of the liquid version that was being used at 21.45?

First of all, thank you for the English subtitles. Secondly, wow I mean wow I salute you my friend the amount of effort that you put into this project is truly amazing. I was considering getting the kit but after seeing your masking job I said no way I’m going to do that LOL. I do however have one question what kind of tool was that in 35:21? Was it an eraser for paints? Where can I find one?

I’ve never seen the method of using extremely diluted paint before. The way you apply small amounts of pigment with multiple passes- how do you dilute your paint so well? Any time I thin my paints, it just makes the colors run, how do you dry your paint so quickly?
@haddyDrow1 Жыл бұрын
Dilute with flow improver or thinner. Not water. Too much water breaks the paint.

May I ask what you use to remove the excess paint without damaging the layer below?
@Aeaaoooaaa Жыл бұрын
Typically this technique involves painting the first layer coat with lacquer paint and the second layer with enamel or acrylic paint then wiping the excess second layer off using enamel or acrylic paint thinner. A gloss coat is used to seal in your first layer work in between the two coats so that the enamel thinner does not damage the lacquer. Here is the process below: Model kit ↓ Primer ↓ Lacquer paint layer ↓ Gloss sealer ↓ Enamel paint layer ↓ Wipe excess enamel paint layer using enamel thinner ↓ Gloss sealer or matte sealer. In general, acrylic paint should only be the top most layer and lacquer should always be the bottom most layer, enamel is in the center of them. Make sure to get a sealer or topcoat that can come into contact with enamel thinner and not melt, I’ve had this difficulty before. I recommend sticking to Mr. Hobby sealers and primers, they’re a bit more accessible in the west. It’s important to use gloss sealer inbetween the first and second layer so that it is easier to wipe away excess paint, matte sealer makes it more difficult. I hope this was at least a little bit helpful, I wish that this technique had a name in English.

I used a double sided mounting tape and it works well! I was worried that tape would be too weak and make the sponge file fly off during sanding, but it held on. Thank you for the advice, I had bought the argofile because of your recommendation. 😀
