In 1995-96, to commemorate 50 years of the Declaration of Independence made by the Provisional Government of Azad Hind, Akhil Bakshi organised and led the Azad Hind Expedition from Singapore, where the Indian National Army (INA) was formed, to the Red Fort in Delhi, which was their goal.
the purpose of the expedition was to refresh the national memory with the sacrifices made by the soldiers of the INA and to remind the youth about their national responsibilities.
Entering Nagaland from Manipur, the expedition was received in Viswema village by the Respected Vizol Koso, the fourth chief minister of Nagaland and a revered leader.
