Don't you just love it when you discover new music that instantly captivates you? Yesterday I'd never even heard of Azam Ali. Today I have and have no idea what's in store or where she will lead me.

Very beautiful version of a haunting song. Tim Buckley wrote the music but the words were written by Larry Beckett.

I have always loved this song, and its meaning has grown ever more personal for me over the years. Your stunning rendition has truly done justice to both the lyrics and the spirit they invoke. I love that you have credited Elizabeth Buckley for the vocal melody, along with Tim Buckley for his poetic lyrics.

Powerfully raw. Wonderfully you, friend. 😌💞 Here you have truly managed to transcend the "limits" of human capabilities and delivered us to a place of haunting isolation surrounded by our own reflection, now rippling into disarray and in a fragile state of momentary dissociation from the deception. Perhaps we will remember the spell we fell under, and the dream that came crashing down, so close to suffocation..... 🌊💔🕯️This represents an immeasurable pinnacle in terms of emotional outpouring and soulful clarity. 🪞 In hopeful contemplation..... 🙏🕊️

Thank you dear friend. As always your prosaic words resonate deeply with me. You should consider writing a book of poems. They would edify us 🌹♥

@@AzamAliandNiyaz My thoughts are more reciprocal, I would say. They come from a desire to return the favor of a gifted poet and lyricist such as yourself, who has truly seen the world and shared about its treacheries and serendipitous nature. I relate to things like exquisite simplicity and walking ten miles in a wolf's paw. The breath of life comes in many shapes and forms, each as intricate in design as the next. Sympathy cares. Empathy carries. Ultimately coexistence matters. Thank you always for inspiring me/us... 🙏❤️

I'd heard the version from This Mortal Coil for years before I realized it was a cover. The other song Elizabeth Fraser sings on that album, Another Day, is gorgeous as well. I lamented Ms Fraser not participating in the subsequent This Mortal Coil albums, but when it takes over the identity of your own band, it's understandable. I assume you're familiar with TMC's version of I Come and Stand at Every Door?
@dubthach232 жыл бұрын
both of the songs are covers, another day is a roy harper cover. this mortal coil was never a band in the traditional sense. "This Mortal Coil was not a band, but a unique collaboration of musicians recording in various permutations, the brainchild of 4AD kingpin Ivo Watts-Russell. The idea was to allow artists the creative freedom to record material outside of the realm of what was expected of them; it also created the opportunity for innovative cover versions of songs personal to Ivo." (4ad website via wikipedia).
