Planning Attack is the ballad of a tired, old Gladiator. From battle to battle, finding only war but wanting peace. Full of regrets, his actions corroding his home planet. Wants order but his methods wreaks death everywhere he goes.

very fitting for how Megatron is in the film and even more so in the Novelization, in that it also still Sounds menacing but also very, VERY tired, really gives the feeling of a Once Mighty Warlord, who's fought for so long, and is just so very tired of it and just Wants to Go Home at this point

I hereby formally nominate Megatron as the number one most snubbed franchise villain EVER... Bar none. He is limited to a non-existent presence in the first film, in which he only shows up in the last ten minutes to immediately get killed. He is reduced to a groveling, weak, punching-bag of a secondary antagonist in the second film, despite his cooler, revambed design. And in the third film,he is nerfed beyond comparison in order to be pushed around by the real villain. I would further elaborate on the fourth and fifth films but they are literally just repeats of the third and second films respectively. All in all I cannot think of a single main franchise villain who has been more disrespected in every singe one of his appearances than Megaron. Even Eggman in the Sonic films is a more intimidating threat than Bayverse Megatron. Literally, the scenes in which Megatron is a true threat are the ones he's not in.

Straight up facts. At least he was scary on his ten minutes on the first movie. The moment he awakes you knew everyone was dead. Although i would prefer if he was just of planet and xame to earth at the end instead of being in coma the whole movie, the slow build up they did paid off well. But mags on the rest of the franchise was a disaster from beggining to end. At least he knew what bay would do to him and paid back on the first movie Megatron: Disgusting! *flicks Michael Bay* Our consolation is prime's megatron, that was a true beast

The best bayverse Megatron design was in first movie. First bayverse Megatron design looked menacing, intimidating, powerful, cool and at the same time his body was well balanced, with good proportions and a little grace.

@@ЛисБольшевик can't disagree much. Although i think his torso was a little bit overdesigned (but what on bayverse isn't?) and i can't get past those hands. How do they even work? How many fingers are there? Can he punch someone without breaking his fingers? Something i like on the first design is that it's full of g1 references: his color scheme as light gray, the shape of his head, little spikes on his sholders. First movie's megs is great

I think his hands look like that because his design was probably inspired by birds of prey. They look a bit like eagle's feet @@calebe4266

Something else to note that you showed through using "Planned Attack" is that the theme is a darker version of "Our Final Hope" subtly hinting at the ending where Megatron saves Optimus, and in the original script, he makes peace with Optimus and returns to Cybertron, literally becoming a final hope for the future of the Transformers.

Man, I think we all would’ve preferred that ending. And I say this as someone who isn’t nearly as bothered by the ending we got as a lot of people. I still would’ve much preferred the original ending.

Say what you will about Shockwave doing nothing in the film, at least he actually kept Optimus out of a good part of the third act. Megatron only had one, all so very brief moment of triumph when he wounded Sentinel. The fact that Megatron lost almost half of his face rendered him a shadow of his prime, forced to hide as a vehicle used by the insect he detests so much, his wounds picked constantly while Doctor drone try to mend them, and ruling from a throne of scrap and decay in the deserts of Africa. Despite his master plan implemented to near success, he was tragically cut down when it all became undone. I think the better term to describe what Megatron had become was a Hobo with a Shotgun.
