The fact that this man went into a war torn area, survived numerous near-death experiences whilst fighting terrorists implicit in crimes against humanity, then got back home with his life and the level of sanity needed to recall all of these events with accurate detail is one thing. The best way to make sure it actually helps them is to go there yourself, or you could have someone that is trusted go there in your place. Look up Josh Kesselman who is the founder of RAW and how he uses his money to actually help those in need. A big way to help would be to drill a deep well, it's basically unlimited water but that would also require a lot of protection from opposing forces that want control of it. That's what I would do if I had the money. That is my goal in life, to be successful enough to be able to help others in need. I hope many people have that ideology.

Damn, This makes me remember a story my brother told me once. Back during the 2019 A2 hash bash, it was a particularly wild since Prop 1 had just been passed, legalizing weed, a joyful change that added to the general celebratory atmosphere. From what my brother remembers, the guy was an Arab-Michigander who looked like his long-lost twin, both sharing a long black beard. My brother remembers him as "Beard Guy". They saw each other and hit it off with a long conversation about the similarities of their appearances, especially beard. In the midst of the conversation, Beard Guy told my brother that a few years ago in ISIS-occupied Kurdistan, he was not only blazing it in terms of weed, but also the 600 R/PM fire rate of his YPG-issued RPK, that according to him once set the wooden handguard alight during a particularly long firefight against ISIS. From what my Brother can recollect, Beard Guy was just your average Arab-Michigander stoner, except that when we all watched what ISIS was doing and did nothing, he decided to so something. So he bought a plane ticket, joined the YPG for a few months, and saw some combat in the Raqqa Offensive before he returned back home. When I bring it up with my brother, he can only recall that much, as he cannot recall his actual name. Beard Guy probably couldn't either, since my Brother was drunk, and both were stoned as fuck. But every time I read something about Michigan that makes me feel bad, I remember that although the world may be evil, there will always be Michiganders that fight against it, and I imagine Beard Guy leading that charge, with RPK in hand and immaculate-hand-rolled joint clenched between teeth.

This guy is just an amazing story teller, edge of my seat laughing almost constantly, hooked on every second that the hour just flew by and loved every second of it. That and he was so vivid with what he said, the analogies and descriptions instantly put pictures in my head, it was just so amazing. 10/10 storytelling and sense of humor.

My God... as someone that wanted to join the Marines and serve on the frontlines until I died a warrior's death, I totally understand the " Legion of the Damned " thing. Leukemia snuffed that dream out when I turned 18 and I have no clue how to get into any kind of military group that would accept a 25 year old with metal shoulders and a metal hip.
@crowe69612 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the prospect of fighting and potentially dying in battle scares me a lot less than it should, but I also nearly died a few times before I hit 18, and every incident left a long-term health problem. I might as well have looked the Grim Reaper in the eye at the age of 5 or 6, almost burned to death in a brush fire as I became surrounded by it. I still have no idea how I got out of that one at least more or less in one piece.

Pretty sure that mostly happened when they were a younger movement, but still, it’s important to be cautious. Can’t be too careful, all the reports we get about them are either from the other side or else stuff they curate themselves. Even independent reporters are likely to turn a blind eye if their support is strong enough, or if they get threatened.
