Sensible os the word. X-plane doesn't simulate peoples horrible deaths.

This is very helpful to picture what was going on. Glad you watermarked it tbh. RIP victims

No hydraulics. Differential thrust. Half the board alive. Heroes - nothing else.

Was this controlled using differential thrust?
@terrydavis845124 күн бұрын
Had to be, although I think the 190AR has electric trim on the horizontal stab so they might have had some control pitch but very slowly. For sure there were no alerons or spoilers movents on any of the videos I have seen. It's looking like an almost carbon copy of the Sioux City crash.

That's my understanding. The path across the sea suggests it didn't have proper roll control, and to the extent this might prove to be accurate, it is clear they didn't have roll control here, either. It looks like the shrapnel damage took out all 3 hydraulic systems, and took out the trim system too - reports from in the cabin was that the flight attendants were trying to adjust plane trim by moving passengers forward.
Not going to 2nd guess the pilots in any way here, but I wonder if the question will come up whether opting for ditching in the water close to the shore might have been a viable option? Clearly the pilots knew they were likely to die shortly and were completely task saturated, but with every aircraft accident like this there are lessons to be learned for the next time (though this one was totally artificial - a very reliable aircraft was brought down by a SAM in this case). Good idea with the watermark, and keeping this off your main channel and without commentary. Sad all the way around, but I'm glad you put this together for context Scott.

Ditching has its own risk associated with it. Emergency services would have a harder time reaching them, and if the plane split in a similar way on impact like it did actually, many people in the tail section could have drowned. The fact that some life jackets were punctured by the shrapnel wouldn't have helped either.

@ I totally forgot about the holes in the life jackets - very relevant! And yes, if the fuselage broke it would have been worse than it was. Probably a 50/50 shot as to whether there would have been a better outcome there, but with the holes in the fuselage and life jackets it makes sense that a water landing was not a good idea. Thanks for reminding me!

also lands around Agtau are like Billard table smooth, people on the ground could reach the crashed yet basically immediately, we have the videos. Also, at those speeds they were at, with no flaps etc, it makes hardly a difference landing on water or lands. But you can't drown on land.

Oh did my crash right next to the coast then? I wonder if he was trying to land on the beach?

Is there a reason to use X-Plane instead of MFS in this case?

Do you happen to have documentation for the replay format so I can generate an appropriate file?
@pranavkolluri24 күн бұрын
my recollection is that the built-in replay tool in 24 is effectively FlightControlReplay, I'll see if I can either dig up the format from somewhere in their docs or perhaps just reverse engineer it... or maybe just email the dev lol
