I changed out my Haldex Air Filter yesterday on my Foretravel and it was on so tight, I broke my filter strap in the process. Had to get another filter wrench and it finally broke loose. Someone did not oil the gasket before installing it. As you know, Haldex filters are a little more involved with what is necessary to change them out and you might want to do a video on those as well. Just a thought! Thanks for all the great videos you put out there!

So happy to see that the coach you used for this video is the exact Revolution that I have!! Even the same color but mine is a 2006. It is one of the very few RVs that I see having a compartment especially for filters ( and side radiator in my case as well). Very cool feature. Good point and I promise I will replace it one of these days. What I do every couple of months is to drain the tanks as per manual instructions.

So very well explained. Thank You, now I'm beginning to sort out all the 4 or 5 filters. So much easier when you understand why. Air brakes, chassis air, requires annual change of this chassis air filter to filter and dry out the air with a dessicant.

Thanks for the reminder! I had mine changed the last time I was in at Freighliner, having them put a new Serpentine belt on (which I carry the old one as a spare now). I didn't know if the belt had ever been changed, so felt more confident with having a new one on there. Probably been two years now on the filter, so something I may change this time around.

Thanks for this important maintenance tip. Back in my refinery days, I would have these installed on bulk oil tanks for machinery. During the day to night temperatures, air would move in and out through the tank desiccant breather. The desiccant breathers were water logged after six months.

All the big trucks I serviced had it replaced every year its also a good way to see if your compressor is pushing oil into the air system and repair that before its a bigger issue. Also if it leaks air the D2 valve is easy to replace
@PreacherwithoutaPulpit3 жыл бұрын
Do you go through and drain all the tanks as well when you do this? That's also a very overlooked maintenance item that needs to be done more often than the filter. Great tip for those unaware that this filter even needs to be changed. As I said though draining tanks can be equally important. As a retired Owner Operator it was something I made sure to do periodically and the frequency depended on where I was driving but I'd never go more than every three months without draining the tanks. Even with a good dryer systems you'd be surprised at how quickly some tanks can accumulate a good bit of water in them which can of course cause them to rust/corrode...
@AZExpert3 жыл бұрын
that is an important item too

@ski3435 Жыл бұрын
No. Just use the bleed valve on each tank. Any accumulated water will spit out first. Then you are good.
@leewelbanks63663 жыл бұрын
What you need to look for is when you are driving/using your coach drain the air system about once a week and if you get any moisture it's time to change the desiccant filter. Most coaches don't get driven enough to warrant changing the filter on any schedule, just drain your air and see if you get any moisture out. I've put 70K on my 06 Patriot Thunder and the air system is dry as a bone, changed the filter when I bought it back in 13.
@AZExpert3 жыл бұрын
yes draining the tanks is important too. Some modern tanks have auto drains and sometimes the drains can be difficult to locate. Thanks!

Since there are those filters not changed on motor coaches. Can say there is still one more filter but is on the Cummins engine. It’s called a crankcase breather filter on top of the valve cover. As a mechanic for an electric utility,we changed air dryer and crankcase filters every 2 years or biannually.

So I have this same RV, I’ve had it for one year, because of this video I changed that air dryer as soon as I bought this rv. Now, it takes forever to build air pressure. I noticed I’m losing air right under the air dryer. Looks like it’s some kind of rebuildable blow off valve that gets stuck open? Have you ever rebuilt one?

@@AZExpert TECHNICALLY, you' SHOULD evacuate all air tanks nightly, as well. GALLONS of water rotting the tanks out, over the years The fact that high end convertos use air doors kind of makes that not feasible. But I guess they figure if you can spend $2M on an RV, what's $50k for new tanks and lines ever now and then? LOL
