Having sung Soprano for almost seven years with this sweet and amazing chorale -- I am so encouraged to see my beloved friends, Pumla, an outstanding tenor from South Africa who spent many years performing in the Boston Subway System and helped to launch popularity of the Mystic Chorale with his solo performances of South African music, lullabies, solidarity, encouragement and so forth. Also Mr. Jonathan Singleton, friend of the oppressed, lover of truth and superb keyboard interpreter of spirit sings worldwide. In addition, I recognise an outstanding fellow djembe rhythm player from the DrumConnection, Arlington, Massachusetts. Singer and teacher of African traditions, who I always strove to sit close to when performing -- knowing she could hear and transmit any given rhythm long before I could grasp it's spirit -- the one known as Janie Victoria Ward, Simmons Professor and co-editor of three books, 'Mapping the Moral Domain: A Contribution of Women’s Thinking to Psychological Theory and Research' (Harvard University Press, 1988), 'Souls Looking Back: Life Stories of Growing Up Black' (Routledge, 1999) and 'Gender and Teaching', with Frances Maher, published in 2001 by Lawrence Erlbaum. Ms. Ward also wrote the book, 'The Skin We're In: Teaching Our Children to be Emotionally Strong, Socially Smart and Spiritually Connected' (Free Press/Simon and Schuster, 2000).
